Quick check and our average for February was 48%.
39% v Everton
37% v Villa
53% v West Ham
63% v Brentford

Unlucky for Howe not to have that record low possesion for manager of the month.

It was in jest about him being the first manager to win it averaging less than 40% possesion.
I like my stats but I didn’t know exact figure for Feb. But fbref have mags as second worst to Burnley for entire season. Most interesting stats on there that show that on almost every metric the team are playing the same as under Bruce (in terms of style). Just shows fine margins and intangibles make all the difference.

But as soon as eggs is eggs you will hound him out in due course.

Its only a matter of time, enjoy it while it last you mag bastards
definitely will enjoy it when we can mate. The good times have a long time coming so certainly will make the most of it. I’m sure the good times won’t be too far behind for you also 👍

They’re on a good run of form playing against teams in a bad run of form apart from perhaps Southampton, but they did lose their previous game 4-0.

One of those games was due to be played in December and one was due to be played in January. They've been rearranged in March. Not sure if it would affect the February games really.

I don't agree we are playing the same.
We are defending better, attacking better. More effective in possesion. Concede less, score more.
Was a good article on the athletic the other day about passing lines. Do you have an athletic subscription? Worth a read if you do, I'll find it.
Everything is better about Newcastle under Howe. Possession maybe hasn't changed much but passes per defensive action is up, way less passive than we were .

I wonder what it would take for the government to change their position on the Saudi state? Obviously their human rights record is nee bother. Hacking up journalists is fine. Their murder in the Yemen is all good if you want to own a football club. Would it take a direct attack on Israel before our government would act?
They're arguably in cahoots with Putin as much as Abramovich. Bit of a double standard.

As much as it would knacker my club, we should be equally sanctioned.

I'd rather we'd play in the lower leagues than be a despot's play toy. I'm probably massively in the minority, depressingly.

The below is an excellent article. Couple of bits that stand out which shouldn't be ignored.

"It does, however, go so much deeper with the owners of Newcastle and Manchester City. The world is already seeing a situation where both Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, of whom the Abu Dhabi royal family are the most powerful influence, are positioning themselves more towards Russia and away from the West."

"Some well-connected sources insist the owners of Newcastle, and to a lesser extent City, “should be nervous”. Both are waging a war in Yemen that remains a worse humanitarian disaster than Ukraine, at a time when that Russian invasion is pressuring the game to reassess its relationship with geopolitics."

Excellent article, and points out the shortcomings of the Crouch review many of us on here saw coming.

On top of that, the commitment, attitude and work rate is second to none. We have to be the hardest working team In the league at the moment

Think I'll ask my local MP to bring up in the houses of parliament the difference between the Saudi indiscriminate bombing and slaughtering of Yemen woman and children and Putin's bombing and slaughtering of the people in Ukraine and how Chelsea have been sanctioned and not Newcastle
This.
