Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Anyone else finding the coverage of this war peculiar?

Boats sinking but no footage. All these planes going down but no footage. I’m not suggesting anything fishy is going on it just feels very different to what I’ve seen in the past in Iraq, Syria, Afganistan etc.

Also what’s gan on with that convoy? It could have driven to Sunderland by now.

You're absolutely right on the first part. The convoy however, still hasn't moved. Western media doesn't know why but it does know it comes under attack alot as it's 40 miles long.

There's a complete mis-judgement on the current situation - The Russians have had massive success in the south, but have badly struggled in the north east, the battle for Kyiv hasn't even begun yet. And let's not forget that they're fighting 2 different wars at the same time, it may not on the mainstream news nowadays but they're still pummelling the shit out of anti-Assad forces in Syria

Im staggered so many people under estimated the Ukrainians, look at the size of their army.. added to the fact they’re on home turf with an actual reason to fight.
Anybody who has seen the Netflix documentary Fire in Winter would not be surprised. The fought for their freedom and they will fight to keep it.

Do we know why Macron is the big cheese in all these communications?

French elections are coming up.
Macron isn't super popular with the French atm due to his Covid-mishandling

It's all ego boosting for him. He's been doing some weird shit like changing the shade of blue on the French flag to make it more patriotic

It's possible the convoy is waiting for the troops moving from the east and south to get closer to Kyiv. They probably underestimated how long it would take for the forces to meet up then they will siege Kyiv - hopefully Ukraine have some forces out to the west to counter. If they cut off Lviv from Kyiv then it will be all over. The Belarussian forces will most likely move south along the Western flank and cut off the supply lines from Lviv.

If the Russians have performed this badly, I can’t wait to see what Belarus could do to lower the bar.

In all seriousness, it’s still just a matter of time. It’s just been a lot more time than most would have thought and the primary credit there goes to the Ukrainians.

Putin is busy making martyrs out of an entire country. He won’t be around to pay the price, but I hope the West sticks to its principles and in 25 years when Russian teenagers ask their parents why the Poles are laughing at them for being poor and stuck in the past that they’ll have the guts to answer honestly.

It’s a strange one that convoy mind, like being stuck in traffic for a week straight just with the worry of being bombed.

all losses here are documented with evidence:

in iraq or afghanistan there were lots of imbedded journalists. there seems to be a lack of that here, bear in mind the sky tv team that were attacked the other day and lucky to get out alive.
Russia likes to control the media and the message.
The Ukraine military are seemingly conducting effective missions behind the Russian front line, so again they don't want a team of jouros tagging along.

they haven't lost that many aircraft in truth, though 10 in one day was exceptional.

Powerful stuff, the government officials son conveniently at university

Didn't the Russians lose 30 helicopters in a ground raid the other day?

no one seems to have found evidence of that unfortunately. it would be amazing if true.
remember in the first few days the Ukrainians also said 2 Il-76s were shot down over Ukraine but no evidence of those either (unless i'm mistaken?)

The Russian Embassy in Dublin having a massive hissy fit about a violation of their embassy because someone pulled their gates off with a lorry.

They don't really do irony, do they?

This sort of thing really bothers me. The rule isn't "well he did this so fuck him"

We have to still be the bigger man and commit to what we preach. I'm hearing a lot of stuff like "fuck them, they invaded" while yes this is true, we cannot allow ourselves to go outside of any law or agreement we have in place.
