Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

In truth the Russian won’t disclose their actual losses at this time and it’s within the Ukrainians interest to inflate their successes therefore we’ve actually no clear idea how it’s going.

This column massing outside Kyiv is a mystery, it’s stationary and visible yet the Ukrainian artillery and airforce are notably absent in targeting this.

Unfortunately suggesting to me that this conflict isn’t going well for the Ukrainians.

A military expert on twitter said that column is basically fucked and like a group of POW that the Ukrainians don't have to feed. They pick it off sporadically but bigger fish to fry and it's not going anywhere.

Like I said, a pretty shit outcome but not nearly as shit as it could be. Putin is a temporary problem, uncomfortable though it is avoiding a nuclear escalation is absolutely critical and waiting it out may be the only way to do so. Most wrongs can ultimately be put right, full scale nuclear Armageddon cannot.
Agreed. If we all pile in and Putin feels he is going to lose Russia, he will go nuclear in my opinion. He generals may also be more likely to comply if that's that case.

I think we avoid that scenario if we strangle Russia the way we have been and continue to prop up the Ukrainian fighters.

I don't like the Ukrainian people being slaughtered but I think it will be worse for everyone if we get involved.

Will have a good celebration the day that evil, cowardly twat dies.

I quoted it to show that your statements are false. You keep proving it.

You are proposing all out war, a sure sign of mental instability.

If you believe so strongly that we should be “taking the field” why are you here typing nonsense on a forum instead of actually backing up your statements and heading to Ukraine?

You quoted him indicating precisely what I’d said. So thanks again.

I’m proposing we act to defend an innocent free democratic nation from an illegal invasion. A nation that we guaranteed to defend the sovereign integrity of, in 1994. You can frame that as “mentally unstable” as much as you want, but it’s a rational position to take and until relatively recently, it was supposed to be what we stood for.

And to answer your rather silly final question - I’m not a trained, professional soldier. Of which the West has plenty.

What a defeatist attitude… ‘let’s concede defeat to tyranny because we’re too scared to fight for the free world’.

How will this and future invasions be ‘put right’ if we never do anything to put it right.

Would you let Putin take over Britain because it could be put right in the future?

I wouldn’t get too excited about the plane from St Petersburg to the US. Rather then taking a diplomatic group for talks probably more likely it’s bringing back non essential embassy staff. I’m sure they said they were reducing numbers

On a plane registered to the Russian government?
