Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

And throughout his “detailed review”, has he found a single donation that was against the U.K. electoral law, came from a person not entitled to vote in the U.K., and/or wasn’t declared properly and publicly?

He seems to have left that part out too.
They are Russian who have bought golden visa’s and are funnelling money into Tory’s, this money is to buy favours from Govt, no one is talking of ordinary Russian citizens.

Like invading Ukraine?

He didn’t invade Ukraine until Biden had publicly - and incredibly - made clear that the aloes wouldn’t intervene. The senile old idiot even went as far as to say the west could make do with a “small incursion”, or words to that effect.

He might not be Hitler Mk2 yet, but he’s invaded Ukraine twice, has no regard for human life, not even Russian lives, has basically legalised homophobia in Russia, has threatened Finland and Sweden with nukes if they join NATO, suppresses dissent and free speech, censors the media and so on.

Hitler was pure evil, but at least in the beginning was an intelligent leader with a plan. When he knew it was over, he ended his life. Putin is acting like a madman, and he has the ability to start WW3. I think he’s psychotic enough to do it.

At some point he has to be stopped. If he isn’t, then he will try to push further west, imo. We have to hope and pray that there’s a coup or someone takes him out. The only problem there is whoever takes power could be even worse.

Make no mistake - the break up of the Soviet Union is Putin's Treaty Of Versailles - we should not underestimate his anger, and more importantly, his frustration and impotence to do anything meaningful to change it

He is a very, very dangerous, thin-skinned, narcissistic, paranoid megalomaniac

He is - at this point - more dangerous than Hitler was in 1938 because he has a nuclear arsenal

Our only hope is that the others involved in actually launching the missiles see sense

The fact that plenty of people who that order would need to pass through, probably don’t want to condemn their kids and grand kids to a nuclear death.

Also, the fact that for all Putin’s sabre ratting bollocks and threats - E.g. “any one who sends weapons to Ukraine which are used to kill Russians, will be treated as having fired those weapons”, “sanctions will be looked upon as an act of war”, and now “the U.K. will be very sorry etc etc” - he’s done the square root of fuck all.

He’s scared of war with the West. If he wasn’t, then Ukraine joining NATO would be of no relevance whatsoever would it? He wouldn’t have batted an eyelid.

Plus he wants to regain territory. Not destroy it. Nuking anyone is counter to his objectives. He will just keep starving and shelling kids until Ukraine is a wasteland, even if it takes years.

Not sure if true but funny either way 😂

I know it’s a funny photo but I hope they then told them over the speaker to drop their weapons and come out with their hands up. Or if not destroyed them on the way out. Ukraine are up against it and can’t afford to pass up any opportunity where the other side are stuck

I never thought I’d laugh at something war related and in such tragic circumstances, but that is absolutely fcking hilarious!
What in God’s name we’re the dopey bastards thinking?!

The Ukrainians are absolutely humiliating Putin and his army. It’s just tragic that so many innocents have to die.

Things like this will be the end of him.

Wasn’t it a miners strike in the early 90’s that really got things moving? I’m sure I can remember thousands of them blockading all of Moscows roads/train stations.

That could be huge if it grows.

It could be fake or because they're not very well trained - soldiers would never use a lift

The tablets are intended to make sure the thyroid is saturated with iodine before being exposed to radioactive iodine from fallout etc. Otherwise the radioactive iodine gets concentrated in the thyroid

Ah, I didn't know myself but as soon as I read what you put the TV series Chernobyl reminded me of the use for iodine.

They’re probably taunting them over the intercom ‘want us to turn the lift back on lads? Yes? Here you go!’ (Lift moves six inches and stops) ‘Haha! You stupid bastards!’

I’d probably tell them to unload their weapons, lay them all on the floor, strip down to their underwear and pile their clothes on top of the weapons. Then I’d tell them they have two minutes to comply or the lift cable gets cut…

Stupid piece of legislation that golden visa one, don’t think abromovich ever got one mind

Do you mean these words?
”And so, I think what you’re going to see is that Russia will be held accountable if it invades. And it depends on what it does. It’s one thing if it’s a minor incursion and then we end up having a fight about what to do and not do, et cetera.

But if they actually do what they’re capable of doing with the forces amassed on the border, it is going to be a disaster for Russia if they further ingra- — invade Ukraine, and that our allies and partners are ready to impose severe costs and significant harm on Russia and the Russian economy.

And, you know, we’re going to fortify our NATO Allies, I told him, on the eastern flank — if, in fact, he does invade. We’re going to — I’ve already shipped over $600 million worth of sophisticated equipment, defensive equipment to the Ukrainians.”

I can see Ukraine being east Ukraine and west Ukraine only my opinion like but the iron curtain will be down half the country.
What happens probably depends on whether Putin survives either literally or politically. If he goes there is a strong likelihood of a secure( ish) Ukraine and a reasonably contrite Russia that could be supported towards greater European integration and democracy. If he stays the best outcome, albeit a pretty shit one, probably is an East/West division of Ukraine. On basis that him staying requires Russia to have essentially taken Ukraine.
