Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

I think this is valid to the thread.
Throughout my adult life, I have been a strong advocater of nuclear weapons, purely as I, and most strategists, thought that while the opposition had them, then any major war would be averted as mutual decimation would ensue, and they would never be used.
Turns out I was wrong, because even though Russia are waging a terribly unjust war on a neighbour, we won't do anything just in case they use them. My argument of mutual nukes, to stop war is totally defunct. It is purely serving as a way of stopping us getting involved. Go figure.
The nukes are there to stop us nuking them and them nuking us.

They can do what they like to non-nuclear armed countries, as can we.

I don't intend any of the above to sound facetious

1 - sanctions
2 - weapon support, which today appears to be helping massively shooting down russian air
3 - donations of food/clothes/money for Ukraine
4 - boycott of certain products (for example I have noticed some supermarkets now removing Russian vodka for example)
5 - government financial support
That's what's happening bar the sanctioning of the oligarchs for obvious reasons.

I think Putins next go is go try & threaten escalation because Ukraine are pasting his air force with donated weapons. Problem is that every fucker has donated them so who does he pick on?

He'll have no planes or copters left at this rate. I read that a Mil 35 is 36 million USD so do the sums on that if he's losing 5 a day.

Crimea was cut off. They were struggling to supply them. So he needed the south part to gain access to “his people”
They built a bridge and have access. The main issue was water in Crimea. The damn in Crimea was at 7% full. And the naval base obviously. They started building another but it was binned as to costly, Yanukovych extended the lease until 2024 iirc. They were always gonna take Crimea.

Crimea is a funny one for us. Truth is it doesn’t belong to either. Wasn’t Russian speaking iirc until Beria deported everyone after ww2. Turks/Tartas were there before any of them I think.

Wondering why they haven’t tried to creep further east to try and circle Ukraine to be honest seems an untouched part of the country. With two nuclear plants too
I just think it’s numbers. It is absolutely huge and littered with village after village after village. Supply lines not secured as there’s been no second echelon to speak of.

I think anyone with even a passing interest in the military can see it’s been a strategic disaster so far for Russia.

Aye being stretched that far is madness he is expected total domination by now

They'll be fine in terms of numbers, sadly. The Ukrainians trumpet shooting down an Su-34, for example. Big achievement, but the Russians have 200 of them. Similarly, across the three attack choppers, they have well over 300 of them.
