My bairns Pepsi was substituted for diet coke the other day, he didn't like the taste and I hate the stuff. Going to take a spade to what's left of it in the yard, that'll learn them.......
Don’t forget they do a full portfolio of drinks including:
  • Fanta
  • Costa
  • Appletiser
  • Innocent
  • Powerade
  • Schweppes
  • Sprite
  • Smart water
I’m boycotting the lot until they change their stance.

The people who are demanding that particular views be excluded form the thread are dominated by a small group of people who have Brexity politics. Oddly they don't have a problem with people spamming the thread with pro-Putin propaganda

Trying to talk about Russian interference in other countries affairs, but not talk about our own is silly

If you want a regular update on Ukraine without debate or comment the BBC and most newspapers can provide that for you
FFS man just feck off onto the politics board.

There have been bickering between different political views

But only one side of the argument - Brexity right wingers - has demanded that certain political topics be removed from discussion

The people who want the thread split just don't want to hear things that make them uncomfortable.

Russias actions in Ukraine should make us look closely at the way in which Russia money, and pro-Putin actors have been allowed to infiltrate British politics. Brexit is part of that.

Daft to exlcude it from the debate just because it makes a Brexiters feel sad
You're making the wrong assumptions as to why people want the thread split.

The thread started as news about the russian build up and impending invasion. It's morphed into news + political debate on how and why the war is happening.

Voting for a blue passport is not akin to believing invading a sovereign nation, killing bairns and attacking a nuclear power station is ok.

I'm happy with debate and comment about what is happening in Ukraine. This place has provided lots of interesting links (albeit we have to be careful regarding their authenticity) that I wouldn't have seen if I was just following the BBC. The thread has been moved from the politics board because its got a much wider interest from posters who don't normally view that board. But at the same time that means it shouldn't be bogged down with political stuff that has been discussed already and has a better home on the politics board.

Again, if there's new, relevant stuff to add to the Ukraine discussion about brexit and the tories then fair enough. I'm just not seeing anything, it's just constant regurgitation that the Russians influenced the brexit vote and have bought influence with the tories. It's a disgrace and it needs to be addressed, but constantly saying it isn't adding anything to this thread. What's wrong with discussing the perfectly valid points about brexit and the tories in its own thread on the politics board? That's my last post about this because I'll end up bogging it down as well. I agree with you completely by the way, I just think it's harsh to accuse people of wanting to shut down debate. Some might be doing that but the vast majority just want to read the thread and read about what is happening in Ukraine without skipping past page after page of brexit discussion when there's a whole forum for that

the view (a thread) of a Russian born political scientist (living in Germany), predicting a defeat for russian forces. he's clearly not a fan of putin

Whilst effectively drafting the male population and screaming out for international volunteers. I don’t think those are actions of a side winning the conflict unfortunately.
Good detail here.

But apparently they’ve stalled?

We’ll see soon enough, numerous media outlets and blue check marks have doubled down on their assessment of the Russia military and have said they’re finished by Sunday due to supplies and so on.

Be interesting to see how they react when this is unfortunately still unfolding next week.

I'm not saying it is a good thing, just pointing out the truth that the best educated and resourced get out first. Whether that is true in Ukraine I don't know, but the idea that refugees are a massive burden just isn't true in my
Sorry to reply twice to the same comment, but I understand that the UK is asking any Ukrainians coming to the UK to show that they have sufficient funds that they can access private healthcare if they become sick and not use the NHS

This means that anyone wanting to come to the UK must have several thousand in cash in their bank accounts

Me and you might want to help the poor buggers who have no money, but HMG doesn't see things the same way
How do we help them though, if they can’t get out of Ukraine because they don’t have any money how does relaxing our immigration rules help them

I’m not saying that rules shouldn’t be relaxed but that a bigger spotlight needs to be shone on those who are unable to flee and how we help them. At the moment they appear to being ignored
