Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

I don’t want my wife, family and friends to be in grief and sad at me dying, so no. And I wouldn’t do a murder-suicide because then all their friends and family would be grieving and sad.

But if everyone is killed in a nuke then nobody is alive to be grieving or sad so it doesn’t matter if we all die.

More likely to end up living in some dytopian nuclear fallout apocalypse with complete lawlessness and loss of moral code. It'd be a fate worse than death.

And then Sweden, who also aren’t NATO members.

Precisely, though Finland would be far harder to defend.

On reflection, I wonder if in reality we are operating standards of 'convenience'.

Beneath it all, perhaps Ukraine is regarded as not being in the western 'club' and therefore expendable.

Like I’ve just said do we give them more respect than they deserve
How modernised is the nuclear Arsenal
Is the country like the wizard of oz
Pull back the curtain and…….

Even a 1980s nuclear arsenal would do the job just fine man.

That is unfortunately one thing Russia has kept on top of BTW.

There are 180 countries listed on the international corruption perceptions index. The United Kingdom ranks 11. Meaning of the 179 other countries, only 10 exhibit less evidence of political and structural corruption that the U.K. 169 countries exhibit more.

So yes - you’re living in a fantasy caricature world.

This is not a corrupt country, an anti-democratic country, or a would-be fascist country. It’s absolutely incredible that I’ve had to actually explain that.
Mate- what I said *is happening*. That's a fact.

Now I didn't say the country was rife with corruption or the like. Not once. I said corruption is corruption. I was very specific in what I said. But its telling you can't respond with a straight answer to what I did say and have to reach for something else.

So park your hyperbole and angry incontinence and respond to what I've written, if you're capable.

There's two ways of looking at justice

One is that X is wrong, and must be called as such wherever it arises.

The other is that X is wrong but not as bad as Y or Z, so be thankful it's not one of them.

You're arguing for the former in the case of Putin

You're arguing for the latter in relation to the West.

So which is it?

There has to be a few options between the below two options other than lets stop selling Russain Vodka in our supermarkets:

A) Let Putin murder whoever he likes and take whichever countries he likes

and

B) The end of the world

I don't know what these options are but then again I'm not qualified to come up with all the answers.
It's like having to choose between a dog shit stottie and a cat shit stottie, both disgusting options tbh.

Just read about WW2 man.

The Germans came within a whisker of smashing them to #### with far far fewer men and machines to call on.
Only winter coming 2/3 weeks earlier than normal saved Moscow from being taken.
All the other major battles afterwards just saw Russia throwing men and machines pell mell at the Germans like at Kursk, and eventually, having much larger reserves of men and machinery told.
This has been the Russian tactic since the Tsars.

Finland had their air force all over the place man. Bought up & took donations of all sorts of obsolete shite & twatted them. Something like a kill rate of 1:43.

Russia has one tactic... Numbers.
Aye, the Germans had to get involved and dig them out of the shite like they did so often with the Italians. Embarrassing.

I think so. People subconsciously thinking “well they were in the Soviet Union anyway”.

If Putin was cluster bombing Stockholm and starving Gothenburg to death it would be interesting to see if western and northern Europe are still happy to sit back and do nothing.

Share prices for the top 10 arms manufactures over the last month:

BAE up 20%
Boeing down 13%
Lockheed Martin up 17%
Raytheon up 6%
Northrop up 26%
General Dynamics up 15%
Airbus down 15 %
Thales up 35%
Leonardo up 25%
Almaz-Antay is n/a these days

Fairly obvious why Boeing and Airbus have dipped. But on average that’s a 13% increase in their share prices. Looks like Government spending is going to go up.

But the issue isn't basic "corruption". The issue is "Russia".

That list will be all sorts of stuff like "my brother gets a good job" etc.

I bet UK is lower than 10th in a list of "countries where MPs take money FROM Russia".

he'll be paranoid as fuck. away from moscow where the real power and control is. would love to be a fly on the wall in the corridors of the kremlin.

He already is apparently. Fiona Hill said he doesn’t eat or drink anything when she has been at dinners with him presumably as he is paranoid about poisoning. Someone said he has refused to have the Russian Covid vaccine hence why people sit 5 meters from him on the long tables. And there is quite clearly tension with his inner circle and cabinet which is telling from the footage Russia released.

He may have one or two very close allies, Lavrov seems to be one. Medvedev maybe but there is the history with the flipping of the presidential role
