It's not a caricature. Government are literally passing legislation to make protesting
illegal, to increase the requirements to vote, to making a disturbance that upsets someone an arrestable offence. That's genuinley happebing in 2022 in the UK.

It's a sad caricature alright but it's unfortunately a literal representation.

Shame there's no expiry date on Putin. Wishful thinking of course but he looks very unwell. If there was a known expiry date we'd do well to hold out and show a commitment to peace. When the time comes there'd be national celebrations all around Europe and we'd be united like never before. This could be just what our ever increasingly divided world needs, we just need to get through this darkest hour intact.

In the last week the west has sanctioned the Russian economy to levels of existential threat, sent hundreds of millions in weapons to Ukraine, and brought Putin/his entourage up on war crimes charges.

Yet they haven’t actually “done” anything.

Putin’s whole schtick is that the Russian territory is under constant threat. Yet they’ve done nothing.

It’s not a policy it’s an empty threat.
 
Chinese rights holders have told the #EPL they will not broadcast English top-flight matches this weekend because of the league's planned shows of support for Ukraine.

Patronise? Not at all the everyone has a bit of anxiety fear about this or you wouldn’t be on the thread being so defensive against what Russia may or may not do.

Anyone saying no fly zone is the right thing to do, needs to accept that it would certainly escalate things & probably bring the war to the rest or Europe.

Russian ground forces might be poor & they're certainly there to be got. And certainly a group of NATO planes could do em in. But remember behind them lies about 600 ready to go nuclear missiles. And a nutter surrounded by nutters or yes men, or people scared to say no. Each of those missiles carries at least one warhead that has on average 10-20x Hiroshimas.

Agreed.

Article 5 is a clear line drawn in the sand.

Much like Putins threats of reprisals should the west get to involved in Ukraine.

These deterrents need to be tested to see if they're worth their salt, but I'd imagine they'd be enough of a deterrent to prevent such a thing happening.
