Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

How f***ing dumb would you have to be to see your government shut down all international media, see the whole world being outraged by your governments actions and not realise that maybe its your government that is lying to you. Surely the average Russian can't be that dense.

It’s easy for us to say that - we haven’t lived our whole lives amongst state-controlled media etc.

You really think if king coward Putin attacks a NATO country they wouldn't be united in fronting him up ? Give owa man.

IF, and it's a big IF, Russia takes Ukraine, the most they will do is make a move on Moldova. No way will he risk a move on the Baltics, Rumania, Poland, Slovakia etc.

This. Yeah yeah yeah "piece of paper" etc. But the piece of paper is a firm solid military Pact. And Putin gets that. And that's why he pissed his knickers over Ukraine in the first place.

Whataboutery again.

UK govt isn't as corrupt as massively corrupt govts doesn't make them "not corrupt".

The list of Tory MPs who took Russian money is a very long one. Even the Berwick MP (who are technically at war with Russia I think 😉) took money.

Boris is delaying sanctions against Russian banks by long enough for money to get out of London.

The house of Lords has the son of a KGB agent sitting in it.

Bent. As. Fuck.

Has there been a single allegation yet of any politician taking Russian money outside of the established rules/not properly declaring it?

Can we really call transparently-declared political donations within a well-established regulatory framework “corruption”?

Would to do so, not be an insult to people who’ve lived under actual, corrupt governments elsewhere?

Serious question for you here also if (very possible) Russia invaded Finland and nato acted in the same way as they have with Ukraine how would you feel?

This same argument has dominated the thread since it started. My take - appeasing Putin is a terrible idea. Attacking Putin is a terrible idea. Net summary - not a f***ing clue.

I didn’t suggest that. I’m suggesting that we supported a similar war in Iraq

we went to war with them. This is what we were told. The majority of this country supported going into iraq.

Look at the f***ing state of what we were being told.

the people of Russia are in exactly the same position now. Why shouldn’t they feel the way we did. We live in a horrible world. Condoleeza Rice said this

Don’t disagree at all, it was a greasy and arrogant neoliberal plot to steal resources using bullshit justifications. My only question was about the 500k killed by America figure in your other post.

For as similar as the true motives are here (geopolitical great game), the Americans could at least truly point to Sadam as being a dangerous monster and while there was tremendous suffering, there wasn’t the same degree of reckless targeting of civilian infrastructure

But anyway, not really worth the discussion with all the other shite going on

What is definitely growing tiresome is the idea that our politics or govt is in any meaningful way “corrupt”. It’s an insult to the billions of people who live under actual corrupt governments.
Doesn't think the Tories are corrupt! Jesus

Serious question. Would you take a nuke for Ukraine?

It’s a moot question, because I don’t believe Russia would ever launch a nuclear attack.

However to walk through the logic underpinning the question anyway - if we do assume that Russia would do that, then it’s coming regardless whether it’s tomorrow or a year or two from now.

In either scenario, we should still be doing the right thing,

You keep on thinking it's all OK there fella 👍

This coming from the guy who tried to claim Britain rather than the Ukraine for leading the way against Russia

Once again, fuck off

...and here comes the other saddo, who resorts to profanities.

...sticking up for the playground bully.
