I'm just another arm chair general but I seem to remember the Coalition in Iraq, took out the air defense, Saddam hit is air force and there was a massive "shock & awe' air attack before the 500k ground troops went in with state of the art equipment

The Iraqi's had a demoralised conscript army

Russia is attacking a well equipped highly motivated defence force, on pretty shitty terrain with its air force very much in play using a conscript army and what seems to be some pretty ropey gear

I'm wondering if one or two of Putins generals might be heading for a gulag sometime soon

And even in this awful situation they can’t help themselves using three word slogans.
“Putin must lose” “leading the way”
While few would disagree with the first one, why does it have to be wrapped in a slogan, as far as the second one goes, it’s just a lie wrapped in a slogan.
I know we aren’t meant to do politics on this thread, but it seems they are almost using a war to try and win votes.

Enforcing a no-fly zone involves shooting down planes. Shooting down a Russian plane is an act of war, so instant ww3.

What if we all agree that Ukraine won't join NATO? If Putin isn't full of it, he leaves the country.

We can then wait til he dies/gets the boot and Ukraine can join later.

I suspect all they have is ropey gear. Hard to tell if its true, but I've seen posts in Ukraine that are meant to be Russian army rations. They were 5 years past their expiry. The tyres on the tanks are cheap Chinese knock offs and apparently are really shite.
