They have committed to walk away from existing contracts and assets. Not sure how this will manifest long term and they can’t just walk away overnight. This is a massive financial sacrifice.

BP CEO quit off the back of connections to Rosneft and as a parting gesture has pledged aid to Ukraine.

However that would involve some EU countries - unwilling to actually fight with Ukraine - at least accepting some economic hardship themselves, to completely snooker Russia. Unfortunately some countries have 100% dependence on Russian gas. They aren't wealthy countries and it would really harm them.

North Macedonia 100%
Bosnia Herzegovina 100%
Moldova 100%
Finland 94%
Latvia 93%
 
It was on the radio earlier where a women in the Ukraine and her mother in Russia did not believe that they were bombing, that it was propaganda.
