Shocking, a true legend of world sport. What a bowler, what a raconteur. RIP.RIP Shane. Will always remember watching him during the 2005 Ashes, even on TV there was a palpable aura of dread when he came on to bowl. The aura nearly but not quite broken by Gilchrist continually saying "niiiiiccccee Shane" after every ball! One of the greats.
Not just Gatting, clearly Richie just couldn't accept what he'd just seen either.I think my favourite bit of the ball to Gatting, is Dickie Birds face…

Same here. Am shocked. You know you are a great of the game when the English love you. He terrorised us as a player but you couldn't help admire him or be in awe of him and however painful it was to watch, you couldn't look away. Can't believe it. Been on my screens as either player or commentator my entire "cricketing life". Absolutely gutting
Was he though? I may be wrong but there's been rumours he liked the bugle and he never had a fag out of his mouth.Totally shocked by this. Fit healthy bloke.
Make the most of every minute of your life as you never know what's around the corner.
RIP to the most amazing bowler I've ever had the pleasure seeing live
