Assuming Ukraine falls to the Russian invasion and a pro-Kremlin government is installed. The population will never forgive Russia for destroying their country. Will it be a pariah state in the old soviet bloc way?
I do think it’s important diplomacy tries to resume as there’s lives on the line. Surely a compromise can still be achieved that prevents further loss of life

There has to be an unprecedented and urgent capital expenditure in Europe now, on nuclear power and other forms of energy self-sufficiency.

If Europe frees itself of reliance on Russian energy supplies, then it really will be in the power of the west to cripple Russia. Dual sanctions on Russias financial sector and energy sector could completely decimate the Russian economy at every level. It would be beyond China’s power to make up that shortfall.

Gas is still flowing, I believe it was excluded from the SWIFT sanctions

I don’t disagree. I do know of certain situations whereby US companies have made the right choice in the past few days, but based on current agreements need to continue with existing plans in the short term until their withdrawal is possible.
Public statements are very clear, but what’s happening behind doors is more practical.
And money needs to move to facilitate things.
I see a complete stop coming very soon, but there’s a window which is still in use. I’m unsure if this is deliberate or an inherent lag in the system.

I can't speak for other mods because we all act independently but personally I can't recall shutting down a nakedly political argument just because it was nakedly political.

For a thread to be closed, posts deleted or warnings issued there would need to be some contravention of the board's T&Cs.

Our brief is always to try to be as unbiased as possible and allow every member to express their views, within the constraints of the board's terms, no matter how repugnant we may personally find those views.

As far as I can see members have had ample opportunity to question his views and quite correctly have done exactly that, so I can't see why you are referring to censorship in this context.
