Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Not sure you’ve ready my post in context with the post I quoted there. I’m not saying he is going to nuke Ukraine. I’m justifying (to an extent anyway) why we haven’t retaliated with boots on the ground yet.
Yes I got that. My point was we don’t need to be so cautious in my view. Sorry for confusion and making it sound like I was accusing you of saying something you hadn’t.

The Londongrad laundry has been established for years.

Sorry to be patronising but I do wonder how people can be obvious to these things effecting our economy and society.

The problem is that we have been taking in other people's money for decades. Indian princes, Greek colonels, African dictators. A huge chunk of London revolves around this money, and dictators around the world send their kids to Eton and Sandhurst

The difference with the Russians is that they set about re-shaping our politics to suit them in a way that previous customers never did. And our own oligarchs, who looked jealously at the unaccountable wealth and power of the Russian friends, were happy to let them do it

I thought maybe they could have put troops on the ground to help like was asked, yes I get the risks etc but well I’m hating seeing innocent people die it breaks my heart and I know at times here I lead with my heart and not my head but I don’t think it’s been a great response.
Ok fair enough. I think deploying on the ground or in the air would have galvanised Support for Putin at home and made it more difficult in the long run. I get your point though, the Ukrainian suffering is desperate. I think the UN could have been quicker off the mark and we (UK) should have implemented the sanctions without giving individuals and Russian banks time to move money.

It's a start and if it gets the vulnerable out then that's at least something.
It certainly is. I hope it’s not a trap and the Russians don’t bomp the humanitarian corridor.

Don’t forget the Saudis etc who own the bits of the U.K. economy the Russians don’t.

I’m pleased I’m not the one having to make that decision. If it went wrong, I couldn’t live with myself for the sheer scale of the tragedy.

The news is getting worse. Feels really depressing at the minute. Just seems more violent every day. Can’t remember ever feeling this about someone but I really hope Putin dies sharpish. I despise him. Just seen some 80 odd year old Holocaust survivor crying her eyes out as her family are trapped in Kiev. Bastards man.

I realise this is a self absorbed post.

Imagine living in Moscow, "fancy going to IKEA pet?" "can't ikeas shut because we invaded Ukraine" "ah well I'll just go to the cashpoint to get some money for a night out?" "no cashpoints because we invaded Ukraine" "well I can just stay in and play as Spartak Moscow on fifa" "they've been removed from fifa because we invaded Ukraine"....... "I'm starting to think invading Ukraine wasn't a great idea"
