Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Disagree with that, human behaviour has changed and will continue to change...whether a change of a state of mind is classed as evolution or not, I don't know, but a change of mindset is certainly possible, its the one thing we all have control of every waking second of our existence. We can make a conscious decision to be be greedy, delusional or hate filled, alternatively, we can choose another option.

And this is kind of what I'm hoping is going to come out of this, what we're seeing is widespread condemnation of war and invasion in this day and age...I've said it a few times, I hope world leaders sit up and take notice of the will of the people and find other ways to satisfy their power needs.

Its pacifism if I said no to any sanctions, I'm not saying that though, the sanctions that are imposed are the way forward, this is surely the way to fight wars now, economically. Not by using innocent people as cannon fodder.
You can’t decide if you want to be greedy etc. You’re effectively a biomedical puppet. It’s no coincidence that the most successful men on the planet always have psychopathic behaviours.

So in a war that Russia will win, why continue fighting and putting your own citizens to death if the outcome is going to oppression either way?
So you would rather let a full nation lose its identity because you clearly support Russia? You haven’t denied it so until you do I will treat it as that.

Do we let him invade Poland next, Sweden? Finland? Moldova?

Where do we stop at that.

Just go ah Ukraine we will let them take mass death to save us.

Plenty of hypocrites in the tory ranks who have enjoyed the benefits of Russian money and the associated benefits in winning votes and elections it brought but now we have to keep quiet because the Russians are now bad. Fair enough.

You have some likes from the tory apologists so well done.

Its the people of Ukraine i feel sorry for.

Chris Bryant (chair of the APPG on Russia) was on LBC earlier explaining the sanctions that the UK government has so far applied to Russia and Russians.

It was excellent and very informative. I urge anyone to listen to it and if you do you will see that I’m not playing the political tit for tat game here.

Today’s episode, from 19:20 in.

Have you ever lived under a communist doctrine? Most of the people in the Ukraine have before so maybe they're best placed to decide which path they prefer to take.

So how far do we go, do we let putin take out the whole of Ukraine. Because that’s what he’s hell bent on doing.

To rid the world evil one must take risks,

I know your anti war so you say but if this was a war not involving Russian your opinion might have changed, correct me if I am wrong? But that’s how you are coming across.
He's absolutely hell bent on the whole of Ukraine by the looks of it...and he's going to get it as well I should imagine. But then...he's got to face the long game hasn't he, all of the sanctions that have bene put in place, that are crippling his own country...thats a war he won't win and who knows, Ukraine may be rid of Russian occupancy once he's gone from power.

Yeah, I did say if it wasn't Russia then I might feel different, unlikely, but I might. Reason being is if it was another country that wasn't threatening nuclear war....still wouldn't want it to happen.

I’m with @Frijj at the minute and taking c) option. Obviously calmer people will prevail.
Yup shit choices all round.

If it was guaranteed to just be a conventional war, I would be 110% behind going in. I've spent a lot of time in the former East and have pals/colleagues in most countries over there.

True but I think the loyalty they have shown to Russia will be more costly in the long run. The world will remember this.
I really hope you're but but I think the world will remember till they either have something we need or can make something 10% cheaper than another country and it will be conveniently forgotten about.

They need to get Zelensky out now surely?

I know he doesn’t want to leave but the Russians would like nothing more then him dead. He has become a pivotal leader and apparently 95% approval rating.

The US want him out as he is far better in exile to stop any legitimacy of a puppet government then he is dead or captured.

He should head to a safe country whilst they can still extract him

Well in that case, what’s the point in anything anymore?
That’s a very Putin sounding sentiment, what’s the point of a world without Russia? What’s the point if we don’t fight back? I’d say the prospect of a very small number of countries with nuclear capability wiping out most of the planet as an inhabitable environment is the point. Very uncomfortable but the cost potentially is inconceivably high. Dictatorships and empire’s don’t last forever, the cost of miscalculation and escalating to nuclear war will. Regime change by non military means has to be the long term goal.

It’s a tricky decision to make. And it will have to pass certain bills from every member state of NATO. By the time it happens putin will have got the land he wants and will call a ceasefire .

What happens next is anyones guess ?
It all goes on will he press the button, it’s not as simple as that fortunately, it’s not just putins call.

I know the nato troops want to help I know a shit loads of British lads who want to deploy to help out,

The best thing we can hope for is a Russian revolt and turning against putin

It’s all opinions and my opinion is watching innocents die whilst we have the resources to stop it is horrible and heart breaking. And that’s why I stand on we need to help.

Many others will think different but that’s where I am

Wow, this is what I love about this place, it really is an eye-opener. I mean that in the most genuine way. You're saying free will is an illusion????? You're right we can't control what comes into our heads but we can control what we do with that information. That is free will. I'd love to debate this until the cows come home but its not the thread for it. Maybe another thread will be started where we can have a good old ding dong.
You can’t control what comes into it and you can’t control the variables in your thoughts that makes you come to the decision that you eventually will make. Your parents implanted your morals into you as a kid and it stays there. All murderers have had shitty upbringings as an example. Child molesters have mostly been abused themselves.

Youd agree if you read books on the subject and studied it to a decent level. That’s not me saying I’m better than you I just have found it a really fascinating concept. You’ll likely know loads more than me about helicopters or summat

Him leaving sucks the oxygen out of the resistance I guess. The man has so far shown balls of steel.

They’ll probably extract him shortly before Kiev falls.
