It’s bad enough that 5 voted against, but even worse that 35 !!! Countries abstained. So 40 out of 193 did NOT support the motion. You must be logged on to see external links

That's not evolution it's the state of mind. In other words it's not nature but nurture. We need to change psychologically and overcome greed, hate and delusion. That has been the situation since the beginning of the human race. Evolution will not change that.Have you heard what you're saying? Most of the women and children have gone, this type of thing has gone on since dawn of man....those two statements alone show why its war is wrong. What about the women and children that are left?
Just because something has always been the way doesnt mean its the right way...the very premise of evolution is to evolve and improve. Whats very clear is that theres a big majority of people on this planet who oppose war and don't see it as the answer, its time for the powers that be to listen to that and fight in a different way. Thats got to be the way forward, now is the time for war to become a thing of the past.
It's a motley bunch though. The world is united against them. It’s bad enough that 5 voted against, but even worse that 35 !!! Countries abstained. So 40 out of 193 did NOT support the motion.
I hope they put more thinking to it that I am sat here in the bath with a glass of wine talking shite on hereI agree but suspect these are the types of variables that Leaders need to assess and determine how to act now.
This is simply pacifism. Any examples of where it has worked?I agree, if people want to fight then that is up to them, on the flip side, don't expect others to join that fight to help you. You say none of them want to give up, they weren't given a choice, I'm sure the majority of people in Ukraine don't want to be in a war and wish there was another way of sorting this out. Ukraine has been at war with Russia for years, 14,000 killed prior to this escalation....are you really telling me that I'm in the minority of people who don't want to fight?
Evolution...yep, ew have instinct, what separates from the animals is free will, we can control that instinct...everytime someone pisses you off do you shout and bawl at them or punch their face in? That there is controlling your instincts. Your argument for evolution is sounding pretty stone age and neanderthal.
These are the countries:It's a motley bunch though. The world is united against them.
Disagree with that, human behaviour has changed and will continue to change...whether a change of a state of mind is classed as evolution or not, I don't know, but a change of mindset is certainly possible, its the one thing we all have control of every waking second of our existence. We can make a conscious decision to be be greedy, delusional or hate filled, alternatively, we can choose another option. That's not evolution it's the state of mind. In other words it's not nature but nurture. We need to change psychologically and overcome greed, hate and delusion. That has been the situation since the beginning of the human race. Evolution will not change that.
Its pacifism if I said no to any sanctions, I'm not saying that though, the sanctions that are imposed are the way forward, this is surely the way to fight wars now, economically. Not by using innocent people as cannon fodder. This is simply pacifism. Any examples of where it has worked?
So just bend over and let them in....then the purges begin.
It's no longer the 1930s. Hiroshima and Nagasaki changed the world.
It's nowt like that man. One mag with a hammer isn't going to end humanityTo me this is like seeing a Sunderland fan being pummeled in the back streets of Gateshead while some of your mates are shouting don't intervene as the Toon fella has a hammer in his back pocket and he might use it.
I think I might just jump him while he's occupied rather than wait for him to catch his breath then start on the next one of us...
Surprised at India. A country that we give plenty of aid to and also has a space programme. These are the countries:
In an emergency session of the General Assembly, five voted against the resolution and 35 abstained. Russia, Belarus, North Korea, Eritrea and Syria voted against the resolution while China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Africa and Vietnam were among the member states that abstained.
South Africa is interesting.
Its not a case of not fighting back, just not fighting back in the way Ukraine are...but, its a hypothetical scenario, we have no idea how an invasion of the uk would look.So we don’t fight back now? You’d let a hostile foreign power just take over the UK? No resistance? No fight? Just step aside and give them free reign to oppress and brutalise the population?
Why?
That's not an analogy that works in this situation. To me this is like seeing a Sunderland fan being pummeled in the back streets of Gateshead while some of your mates are shouting don't intervene as the Toon fella has a hammer in his back pocket and he might use it.

Daresay a few sitting on the doorstep of Russia don't fancy being in Putin's bad books if he goes batshit nuclear.Surprised at Indian. A country that we give plenty of aid to and also has a space programme.

Wish you'd change your avatar, keep thinking its a mags badgeThat's not an analogy that works in this situation.
Maybe if he was also dangling everyone you held dear over a tall building directly above your head. You have a gun, but none of you move from where you are. As soon you fire your loved ones drop on you and your mates head killing everyone mentioned in the analogy. Plus everyone else..... and all lifeforms
Why are you purposefully missing out the bit about sanctions? No one is saying let putin get away with it. Whats being said is fight in a different way. He's pulling the ultimate card with nuclear weapons, you really want to call his bluff?Does this mean that when Russia says jump the rest of the world have to say how high? That’s what this argument seems to be leading to.
No because I haven’t lived a life where I have faced violence all of the way through it. I’m calm and measured as that has been my life. I prefer to talk conflict over. These don’t have that option but have always had this threat hanging over them. They suffered badly in history too at the hands of tyranny so you can understand their MO.I agree, if people want to fight then that is up to them, on the flip side, don't expect others to join that fight to help you. Military stepping is only going to lead to more deaths though isnt it? More deaths of innocent russian and ukranian folk. I'm pretty sure most people would rather suffer through having no internet or access to bank accounts than being dead.I think it’s time military step in now like, standing back watching saying we will cripple the ordinary Russian folk.
No point in being disgusted and upset if the countries are watching are not willing to do anything.
