What a strange thread. Somehow Pure Football has managed to turn the war in Ukraine into an issue about the mags
The thread is about sportswashing. Why wouldn't the mags be mentioned. They are the worst case of it.Their owner is bombing civilians, like Putin. Not just 'mates' with the state(abramovich).Their owner is actually giving the orders to bomb kids in Yemen. He is by far the worst owner going. The comparison with what Putin is doing is valid

Er the mags pulled the game against Everton!

Burnley had at least one game pulled by the opposition.

Your points aren't valid.

Bore off skunk.

There are 7 teams who have played the same number or less games than them, yet they are scandalous ???????

I just find some people seem to hate on them just because they are the Mags.

In the last 6 games they are second in the form table behind Liverpool.

Bizarrely if you look at the very detailed stat at

there is barely any difference in all stats between SB and EH. It is quite bizarre.

Are you hard of thinking?

The mags are the only team who have cancelled their games. The cancelled games they were likely to lose in order to buy £90 million pound worth of new talent to give them a better chance of winning the re-arranged games.

The premier league tightened up the cancellation policy after this as teams, basically the mags were taking the piss.

Howe has been lucky, no doubt about it. Leeds and Villa would have been draws without lucky free kicks.

The thread is about sportswashing, the articles are about Ukraine/Russia.

There's plenty of articles on the atrocities the Saudi's commit - read them if you're wanting to read about it. Read the articles the OP is talking about if you want to read about Russia/Ukraine.

How is this a hard concept to grasp?

Give ower man here's the list:

Only the mags ffs, laughable, 21 games postponed, 2 are the mags.

Lucky free kicks? Surely the aim of a free kick in those positions is to score a goal right?

I presume Keith means the lucky deflection?

They have had the rub of the green in 4 out of the 5 wins. But as I said we had plenty of luck in our great escapes.

- Villa (deflection on free kick)-

- Leeds (weak as piss goalkeeping on free kick) -

- Burnley (Pope spilling the ball for Wilson to face empty net) -

- Brentford - playing 10 men for 80 minutes

No deflection, the goalie doesn't let it slip under and Pope holds it then mags get 3 rather than 9 points and are instead second bottom on 19. It is these fine margins and not because EH is some miracle worker.

However they absolutely battered Everton with a great free kick from Trippier and deserved a draw at West Ham.

I work with football stats and I have looked closely at the mag stats pre and post EH. Aside from proportion of tackles made in attacking 3rd (greater proportion) and height of passes (higher) the stats are not that different to that of SB's. There is just some intangible that he has brought to the team. Credit where it is due but playing like SB doesn't get you in the top half.

Leeds was a horrendous goal keeping error. Villa was a deflection. They were both lucky.

So you are hard of thinking. Ok.

Jonathan Liew in today's Guardian has an article about Jack Grealish, yet he manages to include several paragraphs about Peter Burrow the man-size rabbit mascot and his inflatable carrot. However, when writing about corrupt owners of football clubs he omits to mention the reprehensible Saudi regime. Compare and discuss.

What's your point?

I'm not discussing anything with someone that fabricates claims and doesn't back them up like, but what you've posted there has no relevence to anything.

I’m sure they’ll of made keeping error and a deflection leading to goals this season - does that mean they were unlucky in those games?

Dear Mr Em, it's all becoming a bit fraught and is a dialogue of the deaf. I admire your tenacity and if I have wrongly accused you of being a Mag, I apologise. Just for the record, what are your views on the Saudi takeover?

I will leave it to the resident mags to reply.

But I did remember this from MOTD v Wolves. Should have been 2-0 rather than 2-1 in this game....ref should have stopped play.

We got the most fortunate luck ever when Swindon got done and we went up. Sometimes you get good fortune...
