I do wonder if government may seek to change planning rules even on an emergency basis to being installing renewables quicker? There are still issues to resolve such as land ownership, technology efficiency and viability.
I'd like to think that some of those who would normally oppose this happening would certainly look more towards the positives of doing this and change their mind.

Already happened.

its was the Normans mate,

The Normans were a population arising in the medieval Duchy of Normandy from the intermingling between Norse Viking settlers and indigenous West Franks and Gallo-Romans.

yes I know they were French by the time of the invasion.

Back on topic, I find the Belarus one minute offering to host peace talks and try to settle things down, the next invade, deserves a response from the "allies" I mean its a 3rd party country invading should give us a green light to force Belarus to back off, since this is supposed to be between Russia and Ukraine.

Interesting read that. Seems that if they can keep them out of the major cities for a few more days they wont be able to sustain the fuel and artillery supplies for large scale sieges. Just hope Putin finds a way out that he can spin as a Russian victory back home... unless someone sorts a coup
There's a video going round that shows rations that have been taken from Russian vehicles and the expiry date is in 2016.

Getting to Kiev isn’t the hard part. It’s what to do when they get there. With a tiny fraction of the Ukrainian armed forces depleted and this kind of resistance In not sure where Russia goes next

yeah I shudder to think, but imagine they will start bombing civilian buildings

even if they finally took control, the whole thing goes on as the resistance will continue and turn to guerrilla warfare tactics

Ursula von der Leyen president of the European Commission addressing the European Parliament has just said similar to that and the EU shouldn't have to rely on Russian gas and fund their war chest.

I'd have a windmill in my back garden and maybe those that oppose them in fields etc may have a change of mind if it means we can be more independent and self sustained when it comes to energy.
American gas is the bridge solution. There are several major LNG export terminals either under construction or in permitting in Louisiana and Texas (pending questionable business cases for construction), with the existing capacity underused. The pipeline capacity to feed those terminals already exists. If the European utilities signed up to take shipments, those terminals would have their export volumes.

I realize funding the accounts of US private oil and gas entities may not be the optimal solution either, but I believe some of those entities are looking for co-investors on the projects and would likely welcome entities like Total, Shell, or BP.

Unbelievably brave that.
As soon as they put their hands on the vehicle they could be seen as a threat and shot

Was a guy my son showed me from youtube that used to eat rations and rate them, plus some really old rations, ate a fruit cake from a British ww1 ration pack, said it was still good, people sent him them from around the world.

Aye, I've seen them SteveMRE or something like that?

Lots of photos of very expensive Russian equipment being abandoned in Ukraine. The tank is apparently the Russians best and 4-5 million dollars a unit. Some expert was saying that if a tank is out of fuel it’s useless and a sitting duck so the last place you want to be. Possible they have just fled to avoid being with it and targeted.

Hopefully the Ukrainians start putting their Molotovs to good use and destroying them. If they can’t operate them there is no point leaving them entact for the Russians to potentially recover later.

Think I’m starting to take all these photos with a pinch of salt now, reason being I remember being at a military museum in Kiev and looking at all of the Russian head that has apparently been taken during liberation, etc….turns out the Ukrainian gov Had already bought some gear and used it in propaganda to show its citizens that it was winning etc.

Don’t know why now, but seeing that photo my gut has just spoken up…🤷🏻‍♂️
