Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

This.

When they don’t even have a free press it’s going to be a lot easier to manipulate a population with propaganda aimed at the West. At least we already know that we won’t be getting the full facts in this part of the world for various reasons.

Will the Russian people be questioning why social media sites have been blocked for days now?
I doubt the social media blackout will be that effective... young'ns are quite resourceful where their social media is concerned and I'm sure they will be well informed of events

You mean appeasement?

Putin wants puppet regimes in Belarus, Georgia and Ukraine. Georgia didn't apply to NATO but Russia still went to war against them. Belarus have no intention of joining NATO but still have a pro-Russian puppet regime

All of that nonsense about NATO expansion is a just an excuse for Russia to take action, an excuse easily believed by those who back appeasement

he's just repeating the tucker carlson bollocks... which is all it is, bollocks

Because that's how the world works in reality. Henry Kissinger — 'America has no permanent friends or enemies, only interests'.

Imagine getting Ukraine's application to join NATO:

Pros: ???
Cons: Will probably cause war with Russia leading to thousands of deaths and possible escalation as far as a nuclear conflict (and this isn't hindsight, people have been predicting this for years).

Play your cards right and Ukraine becomes a stable, neutral country acting as a buffer between NATO and Russia and you strengthen relations with Russia. And if Russia did invade a neutral Ukraine that was not going to join NATO (which it would have no reason to) then you haven't really lost anything, we'd still be in the same situation we are now.

If Russia assumes control of ukraine then they have just brought another Nato country ( Poland) closer to them , doesn’t seem like a significant improvement, if that is their concern ….

He won't be able to afford to be aggressive if his country is completely bankrupt. Rather than regime change in Ukraine, the end game is regime change in Russia surely.

This has always been the hue problem at the heart of Russian revanchism. They don't have a strong enough economy to power a new Empire

And they have gone from 40m people on their borders who may be becoming more Western but who have strong ties to Russia and instead have 40m people inside Russia who really hate Russia and Putin and who will need an army of occupation costings $bns per year forever

Does anyone know what the actual protocol is if he does launch a nuclear missile? I’m assuming it’s a case of the west launch one straight back but don’t know if that’s just Hollywood bollocks?
You stand legs slightly apart, bend down as if to touch your toes, tuck your head as far between your legs as you can, and kiss your arse goodbye. Easy really.

Who was it who posted that YouTube link to why Russia is invading Ukraine? Whoever it was, that’s a cracking watch….who knew, oil and gas eh. Ukraine a bit naughty with the Crimean water supply like.

Have you got the link to the footage mate?

Bottom link is the vacuum but it shows indiscriminate attacks.

Fabulous article.

Maybe this clusterfuck is what the West needed to regain its sense of purpose, values and solidarity. To believe in its fundamental ideas again.

Its a reminder that despite our relatively small disagreements on how we organise ourselves and operate together, the free democratic nations of the world are still a “we”.

Brexit, for example, has not prevented the U.K. and EU acting as one when it matters. Putin should now be under no illusion, that whilst the U.K. may no longer have free movement or uniform customs tariffs, when it comes to questions of who we are and what we fundamentally stand for, we’re all still members of the same club.

Yes, I imagine it'll be one each way, and they'll probably hit in the middle with a bit of luck.
