Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

a quick google shows the mpg of a ww2 Sherman is .7mpg and an modern M1A2 is .5mpg

(i assume all modern MBT's will have similar mpg)

the Russians were expecting to roflstomp Ukraine, they appear unprepared for a sustained conflict and/or Ukrainian interference on the supply lines

a t-90 should have a range of 500km assuming ideal conditions, they should'nt be running out of fuel on a drive from Belarus to Kyiv even if going off-road, involved in fighting, etc
They might have had the heated seats on

This was a valuable resource for following the events and is now getting clogged up by the usual petty points when people in Ukraine are fighting for their very existence. Plenty of threads can be started on other stuff.
Discussing how to help those Ukrainians in one of the only ways we can, by providing asylum for them and for their families throughout the war, and how we as British citizens can impact out government to do so, is not only relevant but probably the only thing any of us can do to help those real people very much fighting gir their very existence

The rest Is interesting but it's not actually helping anyone. Like literally it isn't. Because it can't.

The way for us to help Ukrainians is to make their reality a reality to our fellow citizens and MPs and use our time abd resources to pressuruse for change. That's what will benefit them most. Thst requires talking about our Government.

Not second hand Info of troop movements, sixth form level discussions about WW3 and how mental Putin is.

This thread is not a valuable resource to anyone involved in the war itself unless you use the information to lobby for a change in your own country. Sorry to break it to you.

Wonder if theres any truth in the apparent peace talks crack

Can't see any realistic outcome from them that allows Putin to save face. He'll merely state that regime change is a minimum requirement and if that doesn't happen I'd expect a full blown assault on Ukraine to follow.

It’s boring marra and it’s why the politics forum has descended into the same names having a reach around on every different subject whilst the rest have fucked off .
It often is boring aye

But the world of what it is. You can't edit it down just to what entertains you. Things are connected. Everything has a context. That's the case whether you like it or nor.

The European reaction to this is precisely why members of Putin's regime sponsored Brexit, they wan to erode a bloc capable of this level of combined resistance and mutual support, and its obvious to anyone at this point why being within said bloc is better and safer *for everyone* than being outside of it

Who lead the way?

Not the EU, who have been dragged reluctantly by an independent UK.

I really dont get why the rabid right is anti Ukraine / pro Putin???

As much as my views of Johnson are known, within his own party/core vote he is stuck between a rock and a hard place, he can’t win because he will lose votes from the extreme right wing for his ‘support’ of Ukraine and from the true blue Tories for his lack of support.
