Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Has it occurred to you that it happens so often because:
  1. Putin helped fund Brexit. Reversing that decision would piss Putin off and improve unity. If that is not the case it would be simple for Johnson to publish the Russian interference report?
  2. Our own government has been massively complacent around Russian money and giving them undue influence in our internal decisions. If this was Labour your would be screaming “Traitor”. All Johnson has to do is publish the report.
  3. The Tories are more racist than not.
  4. I understand it is hard to admit you are wrong but continuing to support a regime that suggests people escaping a f***ing war zone need to apply for agricultural visas is the final straw for me. After the crisis in Ukraine I will be campaigning full on to get rid of the Tossers running this country.
All imho of course.
It seems to sone to be criticism for the sake of criticism.

I, as I expect most do, want our government to be the very best at supporting people in Ukraine. I want to be proud of their actions in supporting those fighting, those wanting to leave and those British people supporting them.

But they are left wanting because of the links to Russia and their attitude towards people seeking refuge. I would love to praise them, I really would. I’d love to say I’m proud of how the government has handled this crisis. But, it speaks volumes when some Tory MP’s are critical. And this political point scoring defence is straight out of Johnsons script.

I actually said to one of the lads at work on Thursday that I reckoned it would all be over and Ukraine occupied by Sunday.

Seriously hats off to the Ukrainians man, what a set of absolute f***ing warriors. 🇺🇦

Thought much of the same really, thought Putin would have thought this through and had it all planned, he's a nutter who usually gets his own way but this is an absolute embarrassment for him so far.

Fair enough. And it should be debated. But not here and now. The situation is too critical to sidetrack the thread in any way. Apart from your Grandad of course.
This was a valuable resource for following the events and is now getting clogged up by the usual petty points when people in Ukraine are fighting for their very existence. Plenty of threads can be started on other stuff.

If this week's events haven't convinced Finland and Sweden to join NATO, nothing ever will.
There was one from both of those two countries on the Today programme on Friday iirc and they both felt that this situation had moved them closed to joining NATO, they are already part of JEF in which we are the leading nation.

Don't know if this has already been posted, but it's from earlier in the week.

Still think there's dissenting voices in Putins inner circle. Bloke was shitting himself.

Modern tanks consume way more juice than Ww2 tanks me old mucker
a quick google shows the mpg of a ww2 Sherman is .7mpg and an modern M1A2 is .5mpg

(i assume all modern MBT's will have similar mpg)

the Russians were expecting to roflstomp Ukraine, they appear unprepared for a sustained conflict and/or Ukrainian interference on the supply lines

a t-90 should have a range of 500km assuming ideal conditions, they should'nt be running out of fuel on a drive from Belarus to Kyiv even if going off-road, involved in fighting, etc
