One drawback of IEDs and the like is that they're indiscriminate. If you're like Ukraine and are still trying to move your own population and armor around, you're presenting a real risk of a friendly fire accident.

I disagree. It's fair to consider and debate our future relationship with all other countries and geo-political entities in the light of what's happened. And in fairness, I seem to be able t post with impunity stupid pictures on here about my grandad and George Formby. The lad/lass you're replying to comes across as a poster of good sense, I'm sure they won't take the thread off down a tribal rabbit hole.

The Chechans while defending Grozny against the Russians allowed them to drive right in in their tanks and armoured vehicles but had dozens of "hit squads" waiting for them and destroyed a hundred vehicles and killed around 2000 Russian soldiers.

It's reckoned you need somewhere between a 6 to 1 and a 10 to 1 numerical advantage to fight an urban war as opposed to an open battlefield war.

The European reaction to this is precisely why members of Putin's regime sponsored Brexit, they wan to erode a bloc capable of this level of combined resistance and mutual support, and its obvious to anyone at this point why being within said bloc is better and safer *for everyone* than being outside of it

Fair enough. And it should be debated. But not here and now. The situation is too critical to sidetrack the thread in any way. Apart from your Grandad of course.
