Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

To quote the tories “now is not the time”

Let’s not forget the EU were very slow off the mark and took days to get full agreement to properly isolate Russia

Apart from our stance on immigration I think we’ve been much more on the ball than them

Being a member of the EU did not and would not affect the speed of response to isolate Russia that any of its members would have made. Ditto the vaccine response.

Every member state can make its own decisions. The decisions they make collectively are collective responses. They are not compelled to sit tight until the last nation agreed. It just doesn’t work that way. As an example, many member states had acted way before Germany who were dragging their feet over SWIFT.

We need to firmly get out of this Brexit generation misconception about the EU and what membership means.

It'd take an insane amount of manpower and entail fighting offensive battles right on the borders of multiple EU and NATO member states. One wrong step there and you've got a much, much bigger problem.

Given the apparent state of mind of Putin it could be argued that would be something he'd welcome. He's already warned Sweden and Finland of potential political and MILITARY consequences should they contemplate joining NATO.

Our stance on immigration is literally denying Ukranians affected by war the thing they need most. Add that to the fact that our political establishment having been one of the chief enablers of Putins regime and I wouldn't suggest we're in a position to score points over anyone here.

So
Helping the army out is just a maybe so? Pathetic if you ask me it’s more than a maybe so. Right now my nephew is there and all I see is slants this/slants that

Let’s tell them what they are doing is jusy a maybe so or just a not good enough.

Do I think Boris is poor yes, is he my priority now god no.

You have your threads post and opinions and on this forum it’s very cliquey with people on political sides.

Maybe we could all unite instead of moaning or maybe people who whinge about others not doing stuff can actually step up and do something

There’s plenty of other threads to clog up. Reason a hate these posts as the main cause always gets missed.
Almost every thread on the politics forum ruined by this cliquey shite . This is probably the most important thread I’ve seen on here and it’s starting again by the usual people . Can we not just stick to what is important instead of getting pathetic digs in about Brexit , our own Government , racism , the conservatives etc etc . It really is tedious and derails the thread .

Yes, but an incursion into a current NATO member is a different kettle of fish. Threatening Finland with military force means you'd be fighting Finland. Troops on Polish soil while you try to secure Ukraine's borders doesn't mean you'd be fighting just Poland.
