as did Joseph Kennedy.

However I will remind what you said only a few posts ago

'there's always 2 sides to every story'

So, Is the irony completely lost here?
No, but as I also said nothing is just black and white.
PS. Joseph Kennedy was a twat!

I think if you look at recent conflicts since WW2 the super powers taking on the little countries isn't always a walk over.

Russia in Afghan, UK/US in Afghan, Vietnam and now Ukraine

Ok ignore his fascist politics!
Our Royal family keep out of politics in public,

But if you like are you ignoring his close German ties through family, he was particularly close to his German cousins, and strongly embraced German culture. The horrors of World War a left a deep impression on him, and his wartime service, including visits to the front where he witnessed the carnage first hand, helped form his determination to avoid another global conflict at all costs.

In the early years of the Nazis rise, it is true he was impressed with the way Germany was rebuilding, he did think the political system the Nazi's had in place was positive and it is said that in private he did say to Hitler what happens in Germany, has nothing to do with the UK.

He also support the Nazi movements in the UK, but as time went by he did also distance himself and moved to the states.

But he didn't as you implied abdicate to join the Nazis, a lot about his views are kind of disputed also, i guess we will never know how much of a fascist he was, I suspect the truth isnt as clear cut.

So what's this got to do with Putin and the current crisis , did i miss the point you were trying to make?

 It seems Ukraine away is the ultimate shithouse fixture.

All and sundry with assault rifles, uni students knocking up Molotovs, parking bin trucks across roads to block them, sugar in fuel tanks…

Just needs Rory Delap throwing in a rocket from the touch line and its essentially Stoke away
afghanistan is numero uno away fixture, no one has come away with a win ever.

Nuclear weapons have been the best deterrent to major conflict for decades because since ww2 everyone is shit scared to use them. Unless someone is stupid enough to effectively murder their whole country then they’re a moot point, if you fire at us you’ll get blown up a minute later so what’s the point

It just takes one mad bastard though. Unfortunately we live in a world full of selfish people. We all do have a culture of why should you do something or get something if we don’t, it’s human nature.

All it’s takes is is for one unstable leader, or someone wanting to go down in the history books, and bang a nuke is released. Soon as that happens, that’s it, 10 will follow, then 20 and before you know it human beings are the new dinosaurs.
