Let’s them buy some time to get more ammunition and weapons into the country, I don’t think major countries will allow them to effectively surrender and the one thing putin has managed to do is unite most of Europe and the world together when it was always his intention to do the opposite

Could be for sure. Anything to stop the killing at this stage would be a good thing definitely. Can't imagine the fear really people must be feeling tonight. After work tonight I went to the pub, had a pint, a chat. Meanwhile families are being separated and people are sleeping in underground stations. Just unbelievable isn't it?

It wasn’t pure desperation to give out guns. Most estimates are they have lost at most a couple of thousand men. They just want to enable as much resistance as possible and there is a pscops element to Russian troops of never being safe in Ukraine with so many innocuous armed civilians appearing at any moment

I also think it was an act to make Ukraine look utterly desperate, which they evidently aren't.

Apart from France, that had from September 1939 until I think May 1940, We had More troops and more tanks, and had set up a defensive line, the Germans hit where the weakest defence was and moved with speed and rolled the Allies up at speed.
It also only really stopped working as a doctrine when the German supply lines got to long and the Airforce couldn't keep up with the advance in the USSR.
But it works much better in open areas to get the speed going with close Air support, than going into cities or built up areas and why in the second world war, the German tanks rushed past cities to take objectives, pure speed is needed to make it work.
The Germans where given Drugs it seems at the start of the battle of France to keep them awake to keep the tanks moving non stop, with troops awake for days non stop.
