Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

I agree with your perspective on why Russia is invading the Ukraine. I've never once defended Russia, and actually condemened them multiple times, so I'm a pretty shit Bot

You'll find very few people who were victims of the invasion in the ME who agree with your perspectives on that war though. Saying we had no choice but to invade is f***ing absurd. We're entirely responsible for the enormous level of investment and cost in lives that resulted from our degree of commitment.

To them, a country who had no buisness doing so invaded their own.

Wars look very similar the world over if you're not the aggressor.

I have no idea what the policy is with Ukrainian refugees, do you? I doubt it will be any different, and I don't think it should be either.
We should have invaded Syria as well.

But the Middle East has nothing to do with this. Putin is invading Ukraine and must be stopped.

would'nt make everyone self-sufficient but god yes it would be a start

would/should only cost the Gov £5000 or so p/household

pay for it with seized russian assets
That's a blinding idea.
Hit them twice with the same stone.

They also haven’t forgotten that the USSR took over chunks of their country in WW2.

Basically, Russia f***ing sucks, and Putin is doing well on the table of worst Russians ever (a pretty hard table to rise up!).

It’s around infinity times more democratic than Putinistan.
Just as Russia grabbed a large slice of Poland after WW2. Poland effectively moved westwards. Perhaps Putin would like to give it back

I know this but the point was that Finland isn't Russia, has been independent from them from most of their history and Putin and some Russians are off the idea that they should now forever have power over former Soviet states that were even there land to begin with.

It's just arseholes on a power trip being bostagic about an Empire. It'd be bi different to us attacking Scotland and saying well it used to be under our rule so it's our land and in the past lots of English sided with the Scots in the civil war as well.

Point taken mate. Apologies for any sensitivity.

Yeah I'm pretty sure we signed a deal for France/EDF to build them for us? In which case timescales for getting them up and running (along with the cost of energy they produce) will have been agreed at the time and no longer in our hands.
There was scope for a 2nd which we didn't go ahead with. Which means we're flirting round the edges instead of building 10 or more and getting the hell on with it.
Like I said, 25 years ago was the right time, when we knew coal wasn't going to be the answer long term.
10 years ago we knew gas was going to have to go too
8 years ago Russia started "this shit".

Yet here we are, zero steps forward.
But the next best time to start? Today.

The fact that the mainstream media are having to show how they verified the videos and pictures they post shows how much fake propaganda is going about.

Last night's nonsense of the night was "The Ghost of Kyiv" who supposedly single handedly shot down 10 jets on his own. Turns out it was a screenshot from a computer game. :D

Christ can we stop the master tactician, genius bollocks about China and Russia. There is nowt clever about being the top boss in fucked up countries it just means you are the scariest bastard in you country.
That's what really annoys me about the creepy sycophants who bang on about Putin being a 'strong leader'.

Easy to look like a strong leader when you rig elections, change the laws so you can become an equivalent of a king leading in perpetuity, kill or imprison your opponents, have journalists murdered, force out media that aren't state parrots, have your critics who've fled the country murdered abroad, suppress anything critical about yourself, and have apartment blocks of your own citizens blown up in fake terror attacks so you can start a war elsewhere.

Christ knows we have a shallow pool of leaders in the West but at least they have to be accountable to an electorate and subject to at least some of their mistakes being publicly picked over.

Loads of flat roofed supermarkets, diy stores, factories etc.. these spaces are perfect for it if only to be partly self sufficient in energy
Exactly.
This idea that houses and arable farm land is the place to put them is daft. Its the places that already look shite where they have huge energy requirements that should be FORCED to have them

Nothing says “mentally healthy, sexually confident, reasonable, and stable” like photo-op shots of shirtless horseback riding.

Ukraine shares borders with those countries. It makes no sense for Great Britain to send officials across to Ukraine to try and sort refugees whilst in Ukraine, it’s not safe and almost logistically impossible.

Once on the above countries, we (Britain) will process refugees from there.
Every other country has reduced its entry requirements.

A Ukrainian refugee will find it harder to gain access to the UK than anywhere else despite the UK being one of the wealthiest nations in the world

If youre OK with that, that's your perogative, but given you were talking about being selective you're putt8ng quite the spin on this yourself.

Other countries have made it *easier* for Ukrainian refugees

We have made it *harder* for them

China is a massively clever tactician who will play the waiting game to its advantage, early suggestions are they will begrudgingly hedge towards the US on this one as the dollar is worth a hell of a lot more than the rouble to them, if so putin has signed his own death sentence as apart from Belarus he’s completely on his own if shit gets even more serious
A) China isn't a person
B) Basically nobody outside of China understands China, let alone the subtleties of its 4000 year old political culture
