Stocks n Shares ISA

Thought I’d buy some shares tonight (nowt like capitalizing on the misery of others ☹️) but the FTSE 100 only went down 4% today.

Does that not feel like a small downturn for such a major event? I’d normally suggest it was baked in beforehand but the trend has still been upwards before today.

It's been moving that way since the start of the year. I'm pretty certain the markets were expecting this although that prick has finally just given it an extra nudge over the line.

I picked up some Lloyds bank shares which dropped 10% today. They are unfashionable but have reported healthy profits this morning.

Likewise. I’m 2k in the hole since 2019. Trying to hold my nerve and not cash out.
Hold your nerve, remember it’s for the long haul and it will recover. This is the time to buy and bring your cost averaging down. Obviously don’t go mental but if you have a little spare cash and you’ve done your research and know what you’ve chose to invest in is still within your margin of safety then go for it.

Yeah, mines gone down over 10% the last few months, what with putin and Inflation.

I'm resisting the temptation to look at my S&S and SIPP accounts to see how much I "lost" yesterday - it will be in the thousands. But there have been big drops in recent years (financial crash, EU referendum result, COVID...) but there has always been a recovery. The US markets actually closed up yesterday but hopefully we'll see the same here.

I’m 16% down overall in the last few months across the board .

No panic here .

Since I put a large(ish) amount into stocks and shares we've had brexit, a pandemic and now a war.
It's f***ing mental like.

If its global tracker, then it'd have likely to have increased after yesterday (mine did) after the US markets bounced back a bit & the £ dropped against the $

Just taken a peek. The global funds aren't too bad but some of the more specialist ones took a battering, but they are always going be more volatile anyway.

FTSE is up 2.8% today which recovers most of yesterday's losses.
