Very disappointing from the EU if true. This appears a way to really damage Russia. I am very much a Remainer but it seems an example of the EU at its worst.

I'm anti EU, but Biden has recommended not banning them too. There must be some real underlying reason we aren't aware of not to do so

Fair comment mate. The reasons listed by the EU are very weak - keep it in their back pocket for later but I accept that I am way off having any real knowledge on this. That some of the EU leaders - Dutch, Irish etc. are desperate for this to happen suggests it is one of the key sanctions that could cause immediate hurt to the Russians.

Not sure that's purely an EU thing mind. Even if Germany, Hungary, Italy etc didn't agree to it as independent states it wouldn't happen because it needs agreement from everyone.
