Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Mad we see Men from the Ukraine taking up arms and kissing goodbye to their kids to defend their country.

Meanwhile many men in britain have spent 2 years crying about their civil rights because the pubs were shut for a bit and they had to stick a mask on for 20 mins to go into Aldi.
Odd issue to bring up. There have been plenty of protests about Covid measures in Ukraine. There’s also been a lot of vaccine hesitancy (only 34% of population vaccinated).

Even more strange to single out men.

Theres a cracking video that visualises the amount of people lost in ww2 that really shows just how many the USSR lost.

Doesnt take away for a second the brutality and sheer twisted ness of the holocaust mind
This one? I think it's the bit at 5 mins 30 secs that shows it.

Totally agree
Geography, History, right and wrong, humility and way more rolled into one - would actually learn the menaing of the word 'fascist' which would help.
World at War every other lesson would do.

If it wasn't for Schindler's List in English I cant remember it even being mentioned when I was at school
My mates a teacher and he said they’ve been told they’re not allowed to talk politics in the classroom.
That’s going to look pretty stupid now. He’s a history teacher anarl!

That's not destined for Poland. That's destined for Lviv, Ukraine's biggest city on the West next to the Polish border.. It's where all the national embassies have migrated to also so planes/artillery aren't an option there.
There's air raid sirens going off in Turnopil and that's only 70 mile away from Lviv

The ‘Anonymous’ hacking group have declared cyber war on Russia. They could genuinely cause more disruption than the sanctions being applied by all of the Weatern powers.
Hope they come through. They often seem a bit all fart and no shite to me but I’m no expert on them.

The point is can see the men of the UK standing up in similar circumstances. When we get into such a flap about fuck all.

Mate of mine works with a lad who lives in Kharkiv and shared a message he sent round to the company today.

He draws comparisons to WW2 and asks how it can be allowed to happen. Talks about his city and how he grew up there and questions the logic in it being taken "back" by people who've never been there just because it belonged to an empire that doesn't exist.

Says his gran rang him this morning to say she was woken up by bombing. His dad is heading to Kyiv to defend the city. His friend is a new dad and is defending Kyiv. Former colleagues are heading from other cities to defend Kyiv.

He goes on to talk about being let down by the West who are more interested in looking like they're doing something than doing anything. Sanctions designed to look after US and EU economies rather than damaging Russia. The people there have done everything they could to be a free, open democracy and now they've been left on their own by the world they wanted to be part of.

Bit of a take from someone in the middle of it.
