Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Nato is a defence alliance. Nothing more.

Nato cannot get involved unless a nato member is attacked.

For fucks sake man. Forgive my French but I know that. That’s not what I’m asking, or what I’m saying.

There is nothing stopping a NATO country engaging militarily between two non-NATO countries.

Yes or no, are the lives of the Ukrainian people worth less because their govt hasn’t joined NATO?

it really is awful, its horrible to see on all fronts. I dread to think what the soldiers and civilian's on both sides are going through right now. Them soldiers will likely be tortured for intel. There are no winners of war for regular folk who are in the thick of it.
They will be in a world of pain at this very minute and will be dead not long after and the look on their faces tells me they know it

A huge risk with one being Russia.

Would you “accept defeat” if a hostile, nuclear power successfully invaded the UK, and the Americans decided not to get involved?

Hypothetical scenario. Just wondering what your threshold for action is.

your hypothetical scenario is'nt worth answering mate

its ASB - if you dont know what ASB stands for - then google is your friend (and you scenario fits the definition)

:)

Judging by how they look in the photo they are from the south eastern areas of Russia near Kazakhstan etc. Probably have no concept or understanding of Europe. Must be wondering where the hell they are.

Yes. You missed my response.

Estonia is a NATO member. Ukraine isn't.

So your threshold for whether nuclear war is worth risking is basically a list of countries worth defending?

Can you not see the issues with that? The lives of the Ukrainian people are not worth less because they aren’t in NATO.

For someone so concerned about avoiding nuclear war, for a simple yes/no list of countries to be all it takes to change your mind, is a bit flimsy, no?

No they are not worth less at all.

Do you want to go and give your life to defend them?

Doubt it.

The look 16 and likely haven't even finished basic training. They'll know nothing.

Suggests to me the expendables have been thrown on the front line to see what happens.

Do we not? I suppose morals are subjective but from my perspective the developed, peaceful, democratic and powerful west have a moral duty to protect other likeminded states who are less powerful, from unjustified aggression.
Putin has rightly decided we won't risk a nuclear war.

Ukraine will be sacrificed and humble pie eaten by the plate load.

I'm not saying what's happening in Ukraine is right but Vlad was never going to let it play out the way Ukraine wanted.
