He just announced a lifting of all covid restrictions. Hardly destroying it.No. But it’s relevant. You can’t preach democracy whilst destroying it yourself
We will do not yet but we will, NATO and usa will be pushed into this. Once they notice Russia aren’t as strong as they think.Only if there is money to be made, so no we are not.
We should have expedited their membership.Whilst I applaud your enthusiasm, Ukraine is not the hill the West will die on. They aren't part of NATO and at the moment doing what you suggest could potentially switch off the lights to everything we know.
That's kind of how being in an alliance works, you only get the benefits of membership if you're in.So basically because Ukraine aren’t part of NATO we’ve just left them to themselves to defend against Russia?
We’ve just sat back and just went ‘tut-tut’ whilst some old codger tries to be the new Hitler?
Does she ever look anything elseNo but a policy of appeasement does. “It’s ok we’ll give Putin what he wants. That’ll stop him! In the meantime I’ll freeze 3 bank accounts and call them wide ranging sanctions while sending Liz truss in to look confused”
relevance??"Bay of Pigs" ring any bells?
So it isn’t a fair comparison to compare democracy and removing the right to protest but it is a fair comparison to compare wearing a face mask in the shops to democracy? He just announced a lifting of all covid restrictions. Hardly destroying it.
neither was Kuwait it's as if the west had something to gain helping themSo basically because Ukraine aren’t part of NATO we’ve just left them to themselves to defend against Russia?
We’ve just sat back and just went ‘tut-tut’ whilst Putin advances?
Why do we have to be the worlds policemen, involving ourselves in every conflict that occurs? No one with a working brain believes war is a picnic. At what point would you say we should intervene militarily?
History has taught us this won’t be the end game.
If you're in NATO, then it's on the table, if you aren't it isn't.well someone of a higher pay grade needs to decide where the red line is
is Ukraine worth nuclear war
is Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia worth nuclear war
is it the rest of Eastern Europe
etc, etc
You trust the clowns that have let this happen to sit back and make a plan to stop it happening again? They don’t give a fuck about it happens as they are payed well enough by Russians not to care. All this posturing is bullshit like, the time for action was years ago, unfortunately it looks like Ukraine will fall to Putin. Best case scenario imo is that it happens quickly with as little loss of life and destruction as possible. Then it’s back to the drawing board. Not all battles can be won, this is Putins moment, let him have it and then work out what to do for the future.
I see absolutely no reason why NATO collectively should not be helping defend Ukraine.
I appreciate this is invoking Godwin’s law but considering Putin is the second man since Hitler to wage war against a fellow European nation I think the comparison is just - letting him get away with this is just Appeasement V2.
We cannot stand idly by and let Ukraine fall. If we do, China will see there’s absolutely nothing stopping them taking Taiwan. Putin will set his sights on another country after Ukraine.
agreedIf you're in NATO, then it's on the table, if you aren't it isn't.
And the only reason Ukraine weren’t in NATO is because we were scared it would upset Putin. That worked out well.If you're in NATO, then it's on the table, if you aren't it isn't.
What’s the alternative? Fight? Putin has already mentioned the nuclear option…is it really worth calling his bluff? So basically because Ukraine aren’t part of NATO we’ve just left them to themselves to defend against Russia?
We’ve just sat back and just went ‘tut-tut’ whilst Putin advances?
Isn't this basically what happened with Tibet and China but the UN not NATO, Tibet begged for help but the world looked the other way as their were not members. So basically because Ukraine aren’t part of NATO we’ve just left them to themselves to defend against Russia?
We’ve just sat back and just went ‘tut-tut’ whilst Putin advances?
