Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

I see absolutely no reason why NATO collectively should not be helping defend Ukraine.

I appreciate this is invoking Godwin’s law but considering Putin is the second man since Hitler to wage war against a fellow European nation I think the comparison is just - letting him get away with this is just Appeasement V2.

We cannot stand idly by and let Ukraine fall. If we do, China will see there’s absolutely nothing stopping them taking Taiwan. Putin will set his sights on another country after Ukraine.
Whilst I applaud your enthusiasm, Ukraine is not the hill the West will die on. They aren't part of NATO and at the moment doing what you suggest could potentially switch off the lights to everything we know.

They have just signed a 100 billion contract with Russia to supply them more oil. Overall they have around 180 billion worth of business with them. I doubt they will say anything positive about the west. If anything it will motivate them to take Taiwan as no one has done anything about it!

All these sanctions will do nothing since China has a population of people over 1 billion.

What is more concerning is the other NATO countries like Hungary, Latvia and Poland were once part of the Soviet state. If Putin doesn’t see Ukraine as a legitimate country, then that will apply to the others too.

If he does push in to those other countries then we literally have world war 3 as all NATO members have to come to their aid.

If that happens then in war the natural thing to do is to target Russian income (oil). With China being such a huge oil importer of theirs it might also drag them in to the war.

This whole thing stinks.
Hear hear. This is one of the biggest tests for the Western democracies in history.

WW2 wasn't triggered under the context of nuclear threat. Your post reads well and I understand the sentiment but Putin's threats are leaving western nations completely paralysed and I can understand that. There is simply no solution.

So basically because Ukraine aren’t part of NATO we’ve just left them to themselves to defend against Russia?

We’ve just sat back and just went ‘tut-tut’ whilst Putin advances?

 The West May as well just pack up and go home then. If they will never confront him because of the nuke issue (And it is a huge issue) they we may as well just accept our Western role as submissive and let him retake the Baltic’s and anything else he fancies
well someone of a higher pay grade needs to decide where the red line is

is Ukraine worth nuclear war
is Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia worth nuclear war
is it the rest of Eastern Europe

etc, etc
