I don't think Putin is as mad as people are saying, it does help his cause though if people think he's highly unstable and irrational.

I've just been reading this morning that Russia has built up foreign currency reserves of $630 billion since the annexation of Crimea. He's been planning this for years.

Boris Johnson has since a young age apparently compared himself to Churchill (a man he has written two (?) biographies on) and reportedly genuinely thinks he is his natural successor. I'm sure he is secretly buzzing about this whole thing.

I applaud any and every citizen who will take up arms against oppression . I'm just not interested in the gender behind the gun as meaningful .

Sounds bizarre but a lot of those in front line will be organised by football ultras. There's a great book called 1312 in which the author went around eastern Europe with access to a lot of ultra leaders and those in Ukraine and surrounding areas were basically using the football as an excuse to find lads willing to fight for the cause of their countries.
