The Kremlin says use of the word 'occupation' is unacceptable​

The Kremlin says that it is not planning an occupation of Ukraine, and instead what Mr Putin wants is for the country to be neutral and not deploy offensive weapons.
It adds that Ukraine needs "ideally" to be liberated of "Nazis", and that the military operation needs to achieve "demilitarisation and denazification" of the country.
Mr Putin will decide how long its military operation in the country will last, it concluded.

So just wants the Ukraine to bend over to his demands. The blokes a mad man.

I don't think Putin is as mad as people are saying, it does help his cause though if people think he's highly unstable and irrational.

Attacking a NATO country will be a step too far and he knows it. With non NATO countries though he's knows they're up for grabs. Nothing will be done outside of sanctions and a stiffly worded letter. A long term strategic error by the Russians though methinks. Russia won't hold onto Ukraine in perpetuity.

A war won by aggresion will leave a blueprint for the next one...a war ended by compromise will not leave a blueprint.

Unfortuneately compromise is the first victim of war.

I honestly don't think Putin is in control. He's just a puppet for the Russian gangsters and oligarchs. In which case they'll want him to push on and seize as many ex Soviet Union countries that they can get, as long as they can make money out of them.

Putin sees this as a win win for him as he pleases them whilst also taking the public's minds off the chronic economic plight of his own country.
