Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Indeed, its not like a computer game where you can just click and move units, the logistics is the problem, wars are won and lost on how well the logistics are in place.

Take the UK I am sure I read a report a little while ago stating we could only field our armed forces for a sort period of time as we just dont have the logistical support to do much more than a week in the field, I was sceptical about the report, but was very telling in afghan, that as soon as the USA and its logistical support was leaving, we had no choice but to leave.

Once Putin has all the pieces in place, which when you see the reports coming out, it seems he has, then we will know one way or another, my concern is more and more reasons for Russia to step in are getting said across the media, its like the pre war PR has started.

That will be his hardest part. The amount of logistics to feed and arm 150k troops and then support, maintain, fuel etc thousands of vehicles over hundreds of miles of occupied territory will be a nightmare. Particularly as logistics itself will be a target

Will it be live on the telly, or will we have to resort to You Tube and the likes do you reckon?
Televised, sponsored by Gazprom, with E4 hosting a nightly Big War's Little War where reality celebs get to offer their hot takes on the fighting in a more casual setting

Hahahaha my god man your bantz is too much hahaha f***ing class man hahaha garlic hahah. Cos like the French right, sometimes eat garlic hahahahha f***ing roflcopter there m8 you showed them.

Tedious c*nt.
I didn't mean to get under your skin.

I said I was sorry if it upset you.

It's rather odd that you would be so upset and sensitive about such a harmless joke when you have the backbone to call your fellow Sunderland supporters cxnts and your owners wankers and pricks on a public forum.

Anyone would think you were trying to take the moral high ground just because you have history of disliking me. ;) ;)

He has had to move 150,000 troops into position. Some of which have come from the Russian Eastern Military district thousands of miles from Ukraine.

He has also had to sort out all sorts of other logistics including fuel, food, engineering and infrastructure equipment etc… needed for an invasion and possible protracted war.

You might be right that he won’t invade but it takes a hell of a long time to build up an invasion force strong enough to take on Europe’s largest army (Which Ukraine has) particularly when you have to transport most of it across one of the largest countries in the World. He only started at Christmas, and wouldn’t have been in a position to attack weeks ago..
To be honest I don't disagree with any of that. But surely he would have wanted the element of surprise and as much logistical work would have been done in advance of troops arriving.

It could come back to bite me but it just doesn't add up. That being said the quality of the intel could be a big factor, and we've just ruined the element of surprise for Putin, putting him now in a difficult position.

Belarus now threatening to allow not only nuclear but "super nuclear" weapons from Russia on its borders.

The trouble is when a madman raises the ante what does he expect in response?
We need super massive nukes
You have to give it to Putin if he doesn’t invade after all this it’s been one of the most elaborate ruses.

All the little minor details, building field hospitals, hiding tank columns in trees, putting specific armour on their equipment, painting Z’s to aid military identification.

Huge amount of attention to detail to make it seem genuine if he has no intention of going in. He hasn’t just plonked 150k soldiers on the border he has gone to the trouble of every little detail to suggest he will attack. Deserves an Oscar if he doesn’t after all this.
This is what I was kind of getting at. Not only is it an exercise for his troops but it also shows him how the world would react. He could go back to his drawing board with every detail now

Mass 'softening up' will come first - The remote controlled self-propelled heavy artillery on tank carriages along the border would roll in along with mass 'defensive' drone strikes on military targets. images of big troop movements crossing borders are unlikely to be the first thing the world discovers to indicate it has started for political reasons as much as military. They will want a scenario where troops roll in virtually unopposed to mop up and establish power. Russia has the resources to do vast damage with high-tech weapons before committing ground troops, but also not commit troops on the ground until it is a reaction to Ukraine taking defensive action, so that they can spin the propaganda. Sad times. Nordstream 2 will become a political football now no matter what happens.

But so could the West. Moving so many civilians hundreds of miles away is a bit OTT for an exercise.

In fairness to Putin the West did promise Russia no eastward NATO expansion when they were negotiating over German re-unification and we've completely gone back on that promise, this has been confirmed by Germany's Foreign Ministry - essentially he doesn't want potential adversaries' missiles on his doorstep and frankly I don't blame him. To me this has echoes of Cuba:

Surely Ukraine could point to the Budapest Memorandum and say Russia has broken that?

I don't know why people get so hung up about nukes these days, they are so old hat. Just take the f***ing web down or fry the electronic circuits in everything and society will fuck itself. The plastic face generation will be totally fucked.
