I think he’ll be appointed but attractive emotionally though it is I’m far from convinced it’s the right decision. Similar to Defoe, I love him and think he can be useful but it would probably have been better in many ways to get like for like competition for Stewart.
Keane and Defoe are box office and have a clear allure but I think they are more emotional than pragmatic. Because of their previous quality they are worth a gamble but we shouldn’t kid ourselves that either guarantee anything other than media coverage and bigger gates for a while.

For me he is the only appointment available who has any chance of promotion this season.
Automatics slipping away every game, but I would actually believe his personality could push us through the play-offs (finally).
I'm pig sick of this shite league and any chance of avoiding another season down here is worth it.

Agree with this. I also worry the clamour from fans for both is leading to irrational decisions from those in charge. Defoe is madness really if he can only make cameo appearances. If we've had to curtail spending on other players to bring him in then it is showing weak leadership to appease fans. I think the Johnson sacking without having identified the right successor and now the circus over Keane is backing up a possible fear of upsetting fans. That's a dangerous road to be going down.

I agree in current circumstances he’s a gamble worth taking and I don’t see the other candidates having an instant impact but Edwards or Manning would be okay by me. Not interested in another also ran like McCann.
