I've been as frustrated by not concluding as anyone fearing Roy will just say "stick it up yer bollocks then" however perhaps testing his ability and true desire to be here in the face of adversity and disciplined expectation is not such a bad thing.
If he's too edgy to go through the process he'll be too edgy to endure the first time he's told we can't afford X,Y or Z.
Hope we get him in soon with the right understanding
I’ve never been a boss and never employed anyone but I can’t imagine a good way of going about things is to make a future employee sweat on whether or not you think he’s good enough.

It would be if he's walked out on you before and perhaps they're not saying he's not good enough just that he's not the only show in town and won't be treated as such once he's in . Everyone including Roy is saying " it has to be right " , if it's not it would be wrong and we can't afford wrong .

But all the other options are wrong

Anyone reckon Speakman was in contact with McCann before LJ was even sacked and it played a role in the decision being taken to get rid of him. I think Speakman thought McCann was a done deal and wasn’t expecting the curveball of Keane throwing his hat in the ring.

I think that’s fantasy

I'm clinging to the fact that I hope KLD & Speakman see promotion this season as important and not the be all and end all, the right man is more important as its about the future... the one thing this club has not considered in recent years.. However we are all sick as fuck being in division 3, its f***ing minging.
its all they've ever known. They are young and in it for the long haul. But we have had years of torture.. its about perspective. perhaps..
anyway.. get a f***ing move on

That took so long because they needed to get rejected by the 10 people they wanted before him. We seemingly have lots of interest and we are choosing the right candidate on what the club think the people interviewed will do. Not the first person to actually agree to work here
Remember we have searched far and wide.

So much time has been wasted in replacing Johnson, if there wasn't any constructive plan or immediate replacement lined up then why sack him? We gifted 3pts to Doncaster playing the same team that lost 6 - 0 to Bolton and if that wasn't enough the same Muppets will be in charge of team selection against Cheltenham. Keane was supposedly the club's prime candidate so why wasn't he appointed the Monday at the latest after Johnson was sacked? The extra revenue brought in from having Defoe and Keane at the club would go some way to offset both their wages. Almost 40,000 at the SOL in anticipation of seeing Defoe play, an expected 3pts and hopefully some announcement of Keane as our manager. Unfortunately the players and club didn't read the script and it all went titsup. Unless something miraculous happens before todays game with Cheltenham we're going to remain without a manager. The longer the club drags their feet in appointing Keane the more I feel it's not going to happen. I suspect many fans will be disappointed if after a week of "talks" a deal between the club and Roy Keane can't be agreed upon. Appointing another Johnson, Parkinson type isn't going to go down well and a 5th season in this league will be simply unbearable. We've all suffered long enough, so Ha'way KLD pull your finger out and bring him in before tonight's match.

What makes you think this? Has Speakman mentioned McCann at some point?

We are fast becoming a laughing stock. How has a club like SAFC got itself in a position where we have Speakman calling the shots and putting two absolute no marks with no experience whatsoever in charge of first team affairs for 2 games. I’m losing my patience with this shit show of a club. All of my family made a massive effort to go at the weekend (haven’t been due to Covid and a range of other reasons) and we’re disgusted by what the club offered. Get RK in now and salvage some pride FFS.
