Speakman is very impressive and is shaping the club behind the scenes. Despite on the pitch debacles recently, player recruitment and hopefully manager recruitment have been outstanding. The decisiveness in the exit door is equally impressive. You don’t turn around a club overnight but iMHO are the signs are encouraging.over time this will translate to results on the pitch.

Speakman is an asset and we need to hang on to him
He's left our defence in a pathetic state.

Outstanding is a bit of a stretch imo, particularly if you consider the yardstick for recruitment success to be the ability to put a balanced team on the pitch. Picking up bargains or finding value in lads who haven't lived up to their potential is good, but you look at the side (bench included) yesterday and it was about as unbalanced a team as I think I've ever seen. I was saying at the match we seem to have gone from collecting short one-paced midfielders to collecting inconsistent wingers, without at any point finding the middle ground of actually getting 11 players who can all play in their right positions at the same time.

They say the Director of Football has the benefit of being the second person to be sacked rather than the first, well Johnson's gone now so if this team fails then it should be Speakman's head on the block next. Long term plans are all very well, but at the moment it feels to me very much like our long term is in League One, and it's not obvious how Speakman's presence is contributing to changing that.

Ok mrs speakman. Are you for real. We are short at left back and centre halves. Our recruitment was not what was needed in the 3rd division, we are unbalanced with two many youngsters and he is now dithering appointing a new manager 7 days after sacking the previous one. An asset, dont make me laugh.
Correct
No “leaders “ brought in-we can only presume as they would be a “ challenge “to the manager and still no big powerful spine ?
If it is RK be interesting how he gets them battling -if I was the likes of Meteke I would be relishing his advice

He’ll be buzzing, everything about this club is first class, stadium, faculties, fan base, history…. He’s picking us up so far down the pyramid, he’s getting a premier league outfit (bar the players) it’s literally the biggest club he could hope for at this stage in his career, he’ll be frothing at the prospect of taking us up 2 leagues and back into the promised land.
How man. Stop it.

Yer getting me excited.

There’s an awful lot of scapegoat assumption fantasy on here. There’s nothing at all to suggest anyone is opposed to Keane coming here but plenty to suggest there is widespread support of that happening.

There’s a transfer market.

We aren’t poor.

The kids will come through, but that’s a nice to have at this moment.

Sort out the first team squad. Everything else follows.
You can’t just say kids will come through as if it’s a given, structures and the correct people have to be put in place to allow it to happen.

The issue is that we don’t have all the info. Did we sack Johnson without a plan? Maybe. It looks like it right now but it could easily be that we agreed with Keane earlier in the week (hence the itks and likes from kld) but can’t announce till Monday for some reason. Maybe Keane asked for that while he fulfils his itv commitments?

We fill the void with speculation. We did it with Defoe. We did it with the takeover. We do it with the share split. That’s what fans do. It’s not always helpful though - particularly after defeat.
I enjoy the speculation as much as anyone mate. I just won’t be upset with whatever happens with the manager. Hope anyway.

So Keane was all sewn up before the transfer windows shut was it?
No - but a team doesn’t have to play with 3 central defender - especially when you plan to go with two strikers, following the purchase of Defoe. One one central defender but have been ideal but we should be fine - and free agents available. Flannigan after recent mishaps would be nowhere near the starting X1

He would have started yesterday ahead of Winchester

Hetton lass got a new log in?
Only joined in late December. Claims to be a big fan of Rangers because they remind him of the Gary Rowell hat that handily went on sale around the same time. Since then they’ve only posted on threads where Speakman is being criticised. If they aren’t linked to him I’d be absolutely staggered.

I’ve put them on ignore now. The quicker KLD gets rid of the likes of him, Donald and Methven the better.
