The more I know Sunderland, it'll not be Keane. They'll do the safe appointment of McCann or Warnock, bumble into the playoffs and go down to MK Dons.

We just don't get nice things.
Spot on.

MK Dons in a couple weeks. The thing is you absolutely know what you will get from them, they’ll come and look threatening at a minimum.

We might look alright or might look like a shit League 2 side. Weird as fuck this set of players

I'm not bothered if it isn't Keane, but it needs to be somebody fans can get behind and not another wet blanket. They can't just pick the hipster options and expect it to work. Nothing whatsoever in Johnsons cv suggested he would come in and get promoted. Nish.
This. We need someone who will set standards, won't accept this club being in this division, and who will challenge the sporting director when required. Speakman always suggests that he likes to be challenged, but tbh him, Johnson and that dodds bloke they dragged out yesterday could be brothers so I'm not certain he's got it set up like that in practice. If it's not Keane then give me warnock short term, or give John Terry a try. I'd rather that than getting a mccann or lennon

KLD and/or Speakman have been made to look like absolute amateurs this past week. In the meantime we've had the most embarrassing results in the clubs history back to back
In what sense have they been made to look like amateurs? They couldn’t have seen the 0-6 coming, sacked him the next day and although we haven’t confirmed his replacement, if they are working behind the scenes to get Keane (and given he’s got work commitments today and on Friday) it’s not like it’s dragging on.

That said I’m far from convinced by Speakman. If I were Roy Keane I’d come here with the confidence that a good job between now and May, regardless of the outcome, puts him in a strong position with KLD. ‘Him or me’ moving forward.

Will vary slightly depending on what cups you include and what they class as the managers first match, etc., but key takeaway from that is none of them were really that close to automatic promotion form
Yeah i did it purely on league games. Nine of them have really nailed it. The biggest problem will always be that first season. With the dreadful work of the Donald era combined with Jack Ross’ drawbacks it really was our best chance.

All three are 10-15 points over a season away from the magic 90. That’s not even close really, that’s the most depressing part of it all. I think others failings have brought us into play at times when we had no right to be

All this talk of projects and data and visions.

The only thing important at our football club is the success of the men’s first team.

Not visions, not U23s, not concerts, not the women’s team.

You need short term success and strategy to get the men right. Then you do everything else.

You do WHATEVER it takes regardless of what you want to do long term. It’s very very simple.
I’m really sorry to say it but you’re completely correct.

I couldn’t work with him never mind Keane

Give Keane a seat on the board. Solves all the problem.

You tell them Brian lad.

Thinking back to 2006 there are some parallels. The likes of Danny Collins, Whitehead, Nosworthy had just spent a season being embarrassed in the PL and confidence was completely shot. Keane managed to get them all doing their jobs very well in a side that went from bottom after five games to winning the league.

A lot of the problems we have now stem from young players being very low on confidence and not being able to cope when we go a goal down. I’d certainly trust him to sort that out.
