I'd say that high pressing is now a big part too. The best teams are all very very organised off the ball and just won't let the oppo settle

That approach has been around since pigs bladders were used for balls.

It’s just different fancy terminology. The notion that a ‘high press’ is something new and introduced by foreign coaches like Ragnick is insulting to most of the great teams of the past.

The great Liverpool teams of the 70s and 80s and Man United in the 90s were absolutely relentless. Even Sunderland under Reid were doing it. It was called closing down without the ball back then. Now it’s ‘gegenpress’

Prehab has cleared it up saying all it is that Keane wants assurances the two clowns won’t be involved or interfering. He said earlier that it’s all agreed and people just have to stick to their end so it would seem they’ve all said who’s involved who isn’t. They just need to not act up as it gets closer to signing.
Think we all want those assurances

Just from reading between the lines of posts "over the road" I think the suggestion is that Keane has history with one of the "leadership group" (presumably Donald). The suggestion seems to be that this could make Keane a bit wary. That being said, the lad posting it still sounds positive that it will happen. Hopefully kld can demonstrate to Keane that he has all the say and all the control. If there was any truth in this mind (which I couldn't say one way or the other, got no clue) it would demonstrate why we need rid of the pair of them and could do with knowing how much of a stake they actually have in the club. Hopefully it either isn't accurate or isn't an issue though, everyone will be deflated as fuck if it isn't Keane
Cheers mate.
We need those two removed from the club as quickly as possibly btw. But that’s a totally separate issue.

It the hold up is Charlie and Donald, then as I have said elsewhere they can fuck off, then when they get there fuck off again.

And charlie, if you read this I don't give a flying fuck what you think you have done for this club, you are a shit stain on our history and the sooner you and your con man mate fuck off for good the better

It’s incredibly simple.

Successful teams are made up of good players, who are confident, and understand their roles in the team.

There’s a modern fascination with “philosophies”, “systems” and formations. An attempt to portray football as some sort of new age rocket science. It’s not. It’s still the same simple game it’s always been, and quite often the best teams are the ones who keep it the most simple.
So close to being a solid post

With all due respect, when you look at Liverpool, Man City, Spain (peak years) etc that really couldn't be further from the truth.

These teams have helped elevate football to new levels, I'm not sure how anyone could use "keeping it simple" when describing any of the above.

The simple fact is mate, football management has moved beyond banging walls and battle cries to get players going pre match.

Neill Lennon was slated by the Celtic players for how out of touch he was with modern football and coaching techniques.

Modern footballers want to be challenged constantly, they want to be tested and push themselves to limits maybe no-one thought possible.
But we are not looking at the teams and coaches that Klopp, Guardiola & Conte are matching wits against.

We are talking about League 1 and (hopefully) the Championship. Mick McCarthy and Neil Warnock still get a tune out of teams at these levels. Among the most successful coaches in this league recently has been Gareth Ainsworth, whose team plays a style of football about as modern as his hairstyle.

Most importantly, we don't appear to be talking about a choice between Roy Keane and some gegenpress prodigy from Bayern's academy. We appear to be talking about a choice between Keane and uninspiring, unimaginative, bog-standard jobbers like McCann, Lennon & Woodgate. I don't see any measure by which Keane comes up short in comparison to them.

If Keane wants to get back into management and feels he has unfinished business with us, then he shouldn’t let a couple of peripheral figures lead to him cutting his nose off to spite his face.

We know this is Keane we are talking about and that he can be a stubborn sod but he should surely be looking at the bigger picture.
