With all due respect, when you look at Liverpool, Man City, Spain (peak years) etc that really couldn't be further from the truth.

I disagree. Keane himself recounts what Clough said to him more than 30 years ago.

“Get it, pass it to a red shirt, and move”.

Stripped back of all the lingo and jargon, that’s essentially what all of the teams you’ve listed do.

Bringing Defoe in, the players are gonna want to put on their best play…none of them will want to look like a shitbag in front of him!

Bringing Keane in will bring accountability. You add them both up and you cannot lift this club emotionally or attitude wise any higher, imo!
Buzzing to see him and Stewart.

Have to admit, totally forgot we’d signed that Clark lad

It’s incredibly simple.

Successful teams are made up of good players, who are confident, and understand their roles in the team.

There’s a modern fascination with “philosophies”, “systems” and formations. An attempt to portray football as some sort of new age rocket science. It’s not. It’s still the same simple game it’s always been, and quite often the best teams are the ones who keep it the most simple.
Ahmen brother.

He swore by that (what cloughie told him when he signed him for forest) all the rest of his career.

Yes the game may be faster now etc but when you strip it back (behind all the modern aggressive pressing and the like), that is still essentially what constitutes a good player.

The amount of dross players we had even in the premierleague who couldn't control, make a basic pass and move consistently in a game was frightening.

People talk about the game evolving and moving on and it has in terms of fitness and diet but essentially the game is still played the same way. Terminology has changed and there is a lot of middle management buzz word talk involved now. "get in their faces" is now "the press" or "high press"

Do you have many examples?

For what it's worth, I think the simple solutions are often the best ones, but arriving at that solution is often more complex than it appears.

We will agree to disagree.
