Diamond retro Rowell strip

That's the one I hoped GUN was going to do, I think the lad who has the original on here got it off Viv Busby!

Im no expert in the manufacture of retro footy tops but it surely can't be too hard for him to do that one. Its basically the same template coloured orange with the tuborg logo, collar and cuffs off the blue shirt

That’s bizarre as I have Vivs old hummel drill top with initials on along with Steven brodies.

That sounds immense to be fair. The poster with that orange sunderland shirt also has Frank Grays blue Tuborg one too IIRC.

Could curse myself as Viv was living with a lass in Park Shiel next to the Rec in Shields 5 minutes away from me. I wish I'd knocked on him and asked if had any spare kit lying about.

The VB is stitched on but on the other SB has been applied with black marker pen. Both genuine though and got them from someone at the club at the time together with a matchworn long sleeve 92 away shirt.

Class that like, especially the long sleeve away shirt.

Its funny about the marker pen though. Just the other day I was looking through some old programmes and in one was a poster of an action shot of Kubicki. What struck me though was he was blatantly playing in a replica shirt straight from the club shop. Iron on/sticker badge and no white background on the vaux sponsor. He looked like a fan on the pitch next to the other players. Totally different game back then.

What tops were they, the red hummel with black sleeves? I know we also wore blue ones too which just had hummel on them but they looked class

The Busby one is plain navy with the initials on one side and Hummel logo on the other side. The SB one is a lighter blue with Hummel spell out across the chest (I think - been in the loft for years). Ocasionally wear the away top to the match.

Proper rare them mind. I cant even remember the Busby one but that lighter blue one is class. Im a bit of a collector and never ever seen one of those for sale

I’m guessing here but maybe the coaching staff had different ones to the players? I’ll try and dig them out and post some pics.

Id appreciate it as I love owt like that.

On the famous John Kay pic rowing himself off the pitch on a stretcher, Steve Smelt is wearing that light blue hummel top (complete with the away shorts and socks the full kit wanker)
