Black's Corner plans to transform Seaburn tram shelter

Vaux brewery thing.

Looks great that, I remember the summer 1979 or thereabouts, there was a few students that painted the dinosaurs on the inside walls of that very shelter.
Us local bairns, as part of a beach youth club type thing, helped out between pissing about on the beach and learning to swim n that.
iirc, the lass who ran the youth club lived on Park Parade - Christine summat, proper wad.
anyway, reminiscing owa - back to work!

Planning application in for the redevelopment of the shelter next to Grannie Annie’s as well. Think it’s due to be heard March?

That old arcade down there needs knocking down and regenerated into anything but an arcade, prime bit of land that now.

well that's clamped up that Spartacus character, well played

It is currently put to good use. We sheltered under it a few weeks ago when caught in a heavy rain shower! Where else on the seafront is there any shelter other than having to go into a pub and buy something? Especially if you have children or grandchildren with you!!!

Certainly NOT a welcome addition! Leave the building alone. No more coffee shops are needed!

With suitably eye watering prices, I imagine.

Funny how there was only 4 comments as well, there used to be thousands of comments posted by furious residents when the miller development was going to destroy seaburn. Funny how not one of the main gobshites commented on that particular post. it’s as if once their view was lost they no longer wanted to ‘save Seaburn’ although I have seen them having a dig at it on other local groups.

Negative comments about the tram shelter or any other positive leisure development in Seaburn have never been welcome on Save Seaburn.
However, negative comments on horrible, low quality, overpriced new build housing estates, ... keep them coming !

As someone who lives away from Sunderland it's stuff like this that brings you back. Whenever I visit with mates ive made from elsewhere, i'll take them to places like this, and they'll leave with a good, and lasting impression.

Last time I came to Sunderland with a couple of marras, one from Ullapool, one from Leamington Spa. We went on a matchday, tried the footy museum, went to the ship isis/museum vaults, vaux brewery. They loved it. Now when I come back with them, they'll see Sunderland's not a one trick pony, and actually has multiple jewels to its crown.

They'll talk to their mates, and their mates will talk to their mates. Before you know it you've got groups of lads visiting Sunderland who have nowt to do with the place. Class.

Have people never heard of dressing for the weather? It's the North East coast FFS.
And there is a bus shelter literally over the road and you can shelter under the Fat Buddha which can't be more than 200m away.

I’m surprised the ‘Save Seaburn’ lot aren’t standing outside there with placards shouting ‘down with this sort of thing’
Oh I forgot the only thing they were trying to save was their view the selfish tory bastards.
I love it when everything they now try to stop out of spite goes ahead, it’s beyond chos. Seaburn is the best it’s been in my lifetime despite their best efforts to derail the developments.
Fuck them, onwards and upwards 👍

The second I saw your first comment mate, I just knew a certain poster would magically turn up despite being MIA from here for months 😂

You seem quite angry about it all, have you nothing else to occupy your mind?

Most of them drive down and simply sit in their cars looking out to sea with their flasks of tea at hand.

I wonder how many would actually venture out if it looked like rain. None. Why would you? Unless it's to prove a point.

"Look I'm getting wet and it's all your fault".
Did they stand in this shelter for hours on end as well if it kept raining
