Bit of bother before the Portsmouth match

Yeah exactly, the Portsmouth fans were young lads, they were signing about cheesy chips, and that ‘sunderlands a massive club, are they f***’.
however it was our supporter that rose to it, unnecessarily. Only thought I’d mention as I haven’t seen anything like it at home for years
So weren't singing Portsmouth songs, they were trying to wind up Sunderland fans and got a clip. Good, they deserved it then.

That’s confusing … definitely a Sunderland user started the thread. And I’m definitely a Portsmouth fan.
Oh, I can see that you are. There is absolutely no problem with portsmouth fans coming on here as portsmouth fans. Don't you find it a bit strange, though, that somebody has signed up to this board to make a point that pompey fans were walking across the bridge, innocently singing (anti Sunderland) songs and were attacked. Whether he calls himself a Sunderland fan or not, I have doubts. There are dozens on here who claim to be Sunderland fans who are usually scum fans.

The portsmouth fans i've met have usually been ok, but I do recall after the checkatrade final getting stuck outside the boxpark, where they were given large until someone jumped the rope. Tp be fair though the bouncers could have done more to prevent it. As for navy lads, most I've known absolutely hated pompey

I don’t know buddy. I don’t really look too much into it. I just enjoy my football. Never had a fight. Never started on a family or a granny. Or anyone. Never thrown my drink at anyone and never been involved in any bother 🤷🏼‍♂️

Edit: actually Mansfield away was a wierd one. We were all in the pub away fans only and a group of Mansfield fans turned up in their stone islands and balaclavas and started launching glasses and singing songs at us.

To be fair we all know the away day etiquette, go to someone else’s town/city and sign derogatory songs about them you’re going to get a slap.
Anyone that has been to away games knows the score. You can go to almost any away game (derbies included) and not get any trouble these days. Keep your head down and don’t be a dick. Simple.

Walk through a crowd singing derogatory songs about your hosts and it’s likely that there will be a flare up.

As I say, I enjoy opposing fans coming on here and giving opinions from their perspective, as long as they're aware that they're guests on our forum and conduct themselves accordingly. (Some of the best posters on here are supporters of other teams.)
It's the ones like the OP who is clearly not a Sunderland fan but is posing as one, for reasons known only to himself, that I simply don't get.

Haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere, but there was about 30 or so Portsmouth fans heading over the bridge towards the stadium singing the usual shite pompey songs about 25 mins before kick-off, one of our rose to it and they started scrapping. A few punches were thrown by a few different lads and a couple landed (a Portsmouth fan was put on his back) a bottle or 2 was smashed, could have been a lot worse had any more of our lot wanted it.
not ideal was busy with a lot of kids present.

Was the bother at the bottom of the bridge? We were walking down the alley behind the Victory club and it sounded like there was a commotion going on nearby.

There was a group of youths singing ‘town full of peados’ and other shit but they were further towards the crest of the bridge when we saw them.

They didn’t make a sound when they came down the other side where it was really busy near the ALS shop and the food vans on the corner.

There were only a couple in the Harbour pre match who were no bother at all

Yeah, they asked us about where to get something to eat before the game.

About 30 were walking down Roker Ave towards the seafront about 1.30. No bother but I wondered where they were heading. Harbour View or Wolsey perhaps?

It'll be the same people as the OP. They came out of the road where the avenue is about 2.30, about 25 of them singing Portsmouth songs. They didn't seem to be after bother particularly, and didn't hear any anti-Sunderland songs (though it wouldn't surprise me).

Crossing the road before the bridge, a Sunderland fan (teenage lad) took exception and basically said to his mates he was gonna jump in. And of course it was him plus a couple of others throwing handbags over the side of the bridge.
