Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

Good article explaining (in their opinion) why Germany isn’t committing to anything e.g. no weapons to Ukraine and RAF flying to Ukraine avoiding German airspace.
Apparently the RAF not flying over Germany is not because the Germans stopped them. The RAF didn’t ask for permission to fly over Germany.

The GAS situation is interesting.

An American backed terminal opened up in Croatia earlier last earlier to try an lessen reliance on Russian pipeline gas.

Most games comes from that pipeline as well as to the med via Qatar.

Additionally, Russia has the largest gas supplies near the arctic and they’ve stated to transport out of there the last five years. Now they can even go east to Asia so the pipeline to Europe is something they Russia doesn’t care about. Would screw the likes of Germany should it be strangled.

Boris is probably hoping an RAF plane is shot down after straying into Russian airspace.

Then he can shit himself.

Why do Russia wan't to go to war with the Ukraine, and what do they expect to gain from it? History says it's not a good idea.
Stop nato expanding into that area and Sevastopol was a key port too and used to have russian fleet in there.
Its just stuff I was reading last week mind, others will have way more knowledge.

Why do nationalistic countres want to take over others...it doesn't make sense. So you rule another country, what are the benefits?

I hope tongue is firmly in cheek with that comment 🇬🇧
No, because I really can't see what the end game is, of most wars, as history says they don't go well.

We know viruses kill people and wreck economy's, so we don't go to our neghbours and breath all over them.
Probably settle down if Luhansk and Donetsk regions get some kind of autonomy. Iirc similar happened to South Ossetia.
I don't understand the control thing...what does an individual get out of it...I'd get guilt only.

Anyone who has ever played civilisation knows basic history of Crimea and Sevasastpool. and Russian history In case any one wants some light reading, Modern Russia historically is never rest of Ukraine but Crimea was always Russia why we never really did much about and everyone just gave up, Rest of Ukraine we care about for geopolitical reasons we gave them 2000 hand tank busters.. Basicly we look good let them defend their self, Where EU need gas, In our case it is token gesture but a welcome one

Your commenting (I assume) though from being a resident of one of the richest countries in the world, whose wealth was built from a vast marauding empire. Brittania rules the waves remember.

It’s easy to sit from a position of a privilege and say invading countries gets you nowhere. You can’t just press pause on geopolitics because the UK still has its cosy little corner on the world stage.

You’re right of course, but what is the lesson here? Submit or play to win? I know what I would choose.

Depends on your world view but the lesson we in the West continually fail to learn is that an homogenous view doesn't and won't ever exist and if you propose a set of rules/standards by which everyone can get along, then it's wise to follow them.

I’d say we’ve been doing that for the last 70 years, increasingly so on a linear scale and it has lead to where we are now. I’m not convinced it works.
