It's pure lush as owt mind
Quite like the breakfasts before an away game or a day at the cricket. Not so bothered about their non breakfast fayreIt's pure lush as owt mind
He makes a very valid point though. When you run out of things to say to keep your 50 + post a day count going strong
For me, Mackem DJ, it is an uneasy feeling that restrictions on our way of life are easier at hand & more readily available to government than they were before the pandemic. The bar has been lowered for massive intervention, and the sooner it is distanced again the better IMO.And can you explain how that is different to now. For you. I’ve obviously given some examples myself.
In life years, I'd crack on and save cancer patients. As long as ‘crack on’ means we’re all prepared to pay more tax for the increased NHS burden.
Cos it’s either restrictions, pay for more nurses or we accept that cancer operations etc keep on getting cancelled. In a pandemic pick the least shite option cos there’s none that get you back to 2019.
And thisThe phrase is "crack on"
Sentiment can often get in the way of the least shite option. Just been listening to a doctor who said excess cancer deaths over the next two years could rival Covid deaths. I'm no good at maths so don't know if that's possible, but the salient point was life years, as in extending an elderley life for a year or give 30 years to a cancer patient...I sort of got that.As long as ‘crack on’ means we’re all prepared to pay more tax for the increased NHS burden.

I’ve heard quite a few people say this recently re the Pandemic. It may be a coincidence but it’s usually been from people who have recently had Covid & brushed it off easily. I feel it’s turning into some kind of cliché.
Today i heard someone whose been scared stiff of covid for two years, then caught it and shrugged it off state, “we can’t go on like this”.
Anyway, does anyone know what this actually means? I realise we have been under threat of restrictions (which didn’t really materialise) and have had the massive inconvenience of putting a mask over our face when shopping, if you can be bothered. Barring that, what do we really need to “just craic on” with exactly?
I speak first hand in saying that I appreciate travel abroad isn’t as easy. There are also many of companies and establishments that are either seeking to rip people off or provide a shit level of service citing the pandemic as an excuse.
We can’t see Dr’s face to face anymore as the NHS is in an absolute state, we can’t rely on the 999 service for the same reason and hospitals are still full of unjabbed morons meaning routine operations are being put back.
What does “craicing on now” mean for people and how do we realise their aspirations of life having “craiced on”?
This isn’t a loaded question. I’m keen to know what peoples visions are like.
.nI July 2019, if you were going on holiday, to a festival, meeting people for drinks, going out for a meal, buying gig tickets etc, you didn't really have much to worry about. Now you've got to worry about
- Will an increase in cases cancel it?
- Will I have to test beforehand?
- Will some people not want to be there because of COVID?
- Will I miss out on something I'm going to enjoy?
- Will l be financially out of pocket for this?
I've decided to just go for it and see what happens. It's here forever and I'd never book anything again if I was concerned about covid f***ing it up. At the end of the day I may well end up out of pocket but it's a risk I'm prepared to take. Might not get many more chances either with saving about to become increasingly difficult with the rising cost of living.I was gonna go to Antigua in March to watch the cricket. Pretty much the first and last ones are the reasons I've sacked it off. It just so happens the flight/route was withdrawn in the last couple of weeks anyway so I'd have got a refund on that, but I'd have bought tickets for all five days at the test which I wouldn't have. There's also the constantly changing rules of entry in Antigua which you have no control over (obviously) but could also have a big effect. I'm a DIY independent traveller and it was just a bit too much hassle for me.
Eh? Is this me old pal @Enable?Listen to your 1st reply off Harry. Spot on.
For 2 plus years you have ignored me. Nee bother.
But haway ffs. Youse know what I'm about.
I've been permanently banned for no reason. Now this account of me older bro is being given warnings after warnings? What for? Have I offended some snowflake or summat?
All I will say is when CC is banned. I'm off here for good. Good luck with the real virus that is MSM. Oh that and DHC 427.
Theres always going to be a potential for aggro with travel imo unless you book stuff last minute. I’ve been ••••ed about on this basis no end at the back end of 2021 with the changing of testing requirements. You didn't mention the biggest changes of all though. Testing for everyone. Isolating. Testing for holidays. Banned from holidays. Masks (anywhere ever). And can you explain how that is different to now. For you. I’ve obviously given some examples myself.
Peoples kids never met their grandparents due to the first lockdown and you are bemoaning a £16 LFT to go abroad on holiday? Really? And the teremity to ask someone whose positive to actually isolate for a few days. You didn't mention the biggest changes of all though. Testing for everyone. Isolating. Testing for holidays. Banned from holidays. Masks (anywhere ever).

100%. Saves a lot of ****ing on that.If I did everything as a package I'd have went. But there was too many components and things outside of my control, and only one had to go wrong for it all to unravel. Hopefully the testing requirements etc becomes fairly uniform worldwide to help. I was in Italy last October, one tip I would give is have a paper copy of two of your Covid passport as well as phone if that's a requirement. Saved a bit of faff on at times.
Hope it goes well and you have a great time tbough.
