Joe Root

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with his tactics on field but for me the back room is wrong. I don’t think Silverwood is the right man for manager. We’ve definitely gone backwards since Bayliss went.

Would they consider giving the captaincy on a short term basis to Anderson or Broad? Since they consistently seem to overrule the captains anyway.

His captaincy is the least of England’s problems right now

Wouldn’t be against it going to Jimmy, that’s if he wanted it

Dont worry the ECB will be banging on about the 100 again next summer. Never mind that if messes with test cricket. Blows any hope of winning the Ashes and buggers up Roots batting.

interview with tom harrison (FTECB chief exec) yesterday and who said that ashley giles would do a tour report, aggers made the point that andrew strauss wrote a report 4 years ago that red ball cricket had to be taken more seriously if we wanted to be competitive in the ashes and in response to that etecb created a new format of white ball cricket. was funny and infuriating in equal measure

The thing with Root is his blandness.
Every interview is just bland sound bites it reflects his captaincy, I would imagine he isn’t the greatest motivator in the world and he’s not exactly a tactical genius.
Just let him concentrate on his batting and give it to Stokes who despite the extra work load, I suspect would embrace it.

I don't care if Root is the greatest batsman of his generation, the bell end can fuck off with this shite.
