Not 1 hospitalisation

I'd be very uncomfortable. Thankfully, and unsurprisingly, it isn't true. QLD Chief Health Officer has said that visitors to hospital need to be double vaccinated. Not patients.
Can’t find that

Do you end up in hospital the same day you catch the omicron variant or does it have a similar 2 week period before hospitalisation?
Must be the same day hence they already know it isnt as bad.

I’ll reiterate I heard this all before in May 2020 “tHe VirUs iS wEaKeNiNg! WE wILl SOoN bE fReE fRoM iTs CluTcHes”

The simple fact is: only time will tell.

Are we not aloud to look at any data coming out of any country at the moment? Is there a given date when we can begin to take comfort or fear depending on news on any data linked to the variant?

The SA data just seems odd to me.
Their hospital admissions are rocketing week on week but they’re telling us this variant is mild.

So why the huge rise in hospitalisations?

That’s been pointed out by epidemiologists. Their hospitalisations in Gauteng are up over 1000% in 3 weeks. With mainly younger people being impacted. That sort of rise can’t be just driven by other factors so there is a rabbit away somewhere between the data and the anecdotal evidence

Allowed. Hopefully it’s positive news overall Robert. But only time will tell. I dont want to be sat here in 2 months time with thousands dying saying I TOLD YOU SO.

We have been here before with this bullshit that its weakening. I’m sick of false dawns tbh.

Had that discussion with my Mrs last night. Why are more people being hospitalised if it's not Covid??

Overall hospital admissions?

Or hospital admissions with people who subsequently present with COvid?

Given it is a highly transmissible disease wouldn’t it be weird if there wasn’t a rise in hospitalisation of people in incidentally presenting with covid?

There wasn't anything like as much coverage from reputable sources about the virus weakening previously.

This'll be the case here going forward.

You would need to discover them what else has changed in 3 weeks for hospital cases to jump 1000%

A country with a previously relatively low level of COvid and large proportion of the country unvaccinated.

Introduce any easily transmissible disease and cases are going to increase surely.

Having read a lot of what’s coming out of South Africa, the people presenting in hospital seem to be for other reasons, but who just so happen to have covid.

In this cause correlation =/= causation.

Im still not sure I follow. Even if they are presenting for other reasons and just happen to have Covid why then would hospitalisations go up 1080% in 3 weeks?
