Not 1 hospitalisation

Lozza fox is abit of a knobhead but yes it seems the media are vastly overeating this u mean can't say I'm surprised like but yeah
Yet. Only discovered here last week so likely no cases have had time to feed into the system.

I'm all for a bit of optimism but not when it's misplaced

Suppose we will only see in time but aren't the noises coming out of S Africa that it's not very severe in terms of effects just some muscle aches and that

Some are saying that, others saying hospitalisations are increasing. Younger population so you'd expect fairly mild symptoms for most

They also reckon it’s been in England a lot longer

Of course it’s sensationalised, it creates news, brings eyes and sells media. It’s not malicious or conspiratorial, it’s bread and butter ‘journalism’.

noises coming out of everywhere is that it’s far to early to say how dangerous it is, it will be at least 2/3 weeks before specialists can draw any conclusions either way

It’s made me feel a bit more optimistic than I have in a while though

From this new varient so why all the scaremongering

I think it's always going to be difficult to tell without the data.

Probably a lot of the concern was due to how infectious it is. I read 1.3 more time than the delta variant, which is very infections. Add that to the fact it has unusual spike proteins which may or may not evade the vaccine. It has the potential to spread very fast.

also remember it's fairly normal for the first people infected to be younger, healthier people. Like the people healthy enough to travel to Africa and back fairly easily. This inevitably and almost always runs through the demographics, eventually hitting the people who are vulnerable.

i think we are fortunate if it's to be a mild variant and have got off lightly but until all the data is collected and we know more the cautious approach is probably the best.

although the sensationalist journalism headlines probably don't help at all.

Always a lag between testing positive and hospitalisation so not really surprising. We've only been detecting cases of the new variant for a few days.
But those must have been symptomatic to get a PCR? Or at least been in contact with someone... Who must also have had omicron to give them it.

I reckon been here a while.
