Quayside Newcastle

We are going to Babuchos for a meal and a few then will probably end up out somewhere for a few hours after. Any decent recommendations near the hotel or babuchos? Not too pricey with it being inbetween Christmas and New year 😉
Tiger Hornsby is normally canny later on, decent music and sometimes a bongo player or something
Went in that new one on the top floor a while ago, views were good but I thought it was a bit pretentious tbh, think the people I was with had to pay 200 quid min table spend to book one 😳

Round that way I’d probably opt for Colonel porters, Bridge Tavern, Broad Chare.

personally prefer Ouseburn way - Brinkburn Brewery, Kiln House, Tyne, Cluny.

Copthorne?
Be only a matter of time before thats flogged for apartments. Place looks like it is on its last legs.
Just messaged you with everything. I lived on the Quayside for 6 years until a few month back.
Havent seen you on here for donkeys Mark. Were you working as a brass down there by chance?

Nice review for the Hilton here haha

Luckily I've cancelled it. That review is awful, reminds me of my service down the park plaza Westminster a few weeks ago, won't be returning there.

You could try the Melia as it’s just opened and along the quayside if that is your preferred location.

it would be worth considering grey st hotel as it’s just up Dene St on the corner and quite close to the likes of Barluga, Pleased To Meet You etc if you’d prefer those sorts of pubs. Also slightly closer to the Metro, though depends how you are getting there.

 - I still get on now and again!

It's posh down the Quayside now man! Gone downhill since I moved out!

I lived in the Apartments opposite the new Melia Hotel - was great and an amazing apartment which I tried to buy but cladding issues (non fire rated) put a stop to that....also I was out partying way too much and I'm getting on now!

My lass has made me settle down and move to the Coast now though over Tynemouth way on. Easier quiet life!
Ive just seen mate thanks. Will take an hour or two to digest the information 😂.

Really appreciate it, should do tours of the city you 😂

I pretty much already do tbh. Anytime any of my mates from outside the area are in the City I have to act as a tour guide. I had a group from Crook through the other week, a few from Sheffield at the weekend just gone, and got a group from Willington the week after next who need guiding round the City! I've got a weekend off it this weekend but I'm in town anyways to see a mates band, so I'm out again.

I tried to stop the partying by moving out the city and now I'm still out every weekend but just having to pay extra in taxi's back and forth

Bridge tavern
Head of steam
Broad chare
All decent
Personally prefer ouseburn but maybe a little out of your way walking wise if you are eating at babucho
Sounds like you have loads of info off @SAFCMark but if you need anything else I’ve probably been in every bar in the ouseburn/ quayside in the last couple of weeks 😀

Prey tell?

Tbf I like the Gateshead Hilton and whilst i sometimes take tripadvisor reviews with a pinch of salt you can actually get vibes that one is correct “because I dont care:lol:

Aye I think there was when I first moved in and dealers on the lower floors but I was up top but used to seem some right characters in the lobby area. Don't think there has been any for a few years, every now in there is spot on.

There are a few Airbnb's in there now, so it's usually kicking off with the residents and people staying who Airbnb who are having fuck off huge parties.

My local the Bridge Tavern :) . You missed off Redhouse :)

Redhouse and Bridge Tavern are pretty much my go to on the Quayside. Love upstairs in the Bridge Tavern out the back in the summer.

Had an issue with my booking and the lass on reception was just really rude, I ended up back and forth on the phone to the agency who work booked it through to resolve it and when I went back to reception she served someone behind me instead 😂 luckily a young lad came and got me sorted with a free upgrade and apologised.

How could I forget the redhouse
A saviour for serving takeaway pints during lockdown
V good pint of Guinness in there

Shite now compared to back in the day isnt it though, the Red House?

I absolutely loved the quayside way back when. A few poncey places, a few “party” type bars & a few old school boozers with loads of brass & red and green carpets.

Now nearly every bar down there is the same. All poncey, £5+ a pint, £9 a cocktail, Grey painted walls, wood flooring, full of cokeheads instagramming. I’d rather drink in the house these days tbh.

The Hooch on the key side was decent when I went in. Good views and chilled out music. Close to the Broad Chare another decent pub.

Weirdest pub i’ve ever been in. Full of retired professionals living on the outskirts of central newcastle calling in for a half an ale in their jesus sandals & £240 argyle sweater whilst out walking their dog
Well i didn't pay that for my Argyle sweater and it's to cold for Jesus sandals but the beers nice. Foods nice upstairs as well.
